A Va. State Trooper from the 4th Division had a violater stopped around 10:00PM on the north bound lane of I-81 near Chilhowie friday night. He had released the violator on a Summons and was still sitting in the emergency lane completing paper work with his blue strobes lights on. When a large Dual Wheel pickup hit him at approximantley 75 MPH from behind and near the rear door on the drivers side. He suffered serious injuries and was flown via VASP Med Flight helicopter to Bristol Regional Hospital where he remains in the intensive care unit. However he is stable but in serious condition with possibly a broken Back/Neck. He is a fine young man and a great young Trooper with lots of potential. Please pray or give well wishes to him and his family and fellow Troopers. The Driver of the other vehicle was intoxicated and suffered no injuries, he is being held at the Abington Regional Jail.

I just checked with my Supervisor about Trooper Chapman's condition, and didnt hear good news. He's now totally dependant on a respirator. Please take a extra moment of time and give good will or a strong prayer of faith for him. Thank you all.
