Dealer Question...Where do you buy your...

Ammo??? Where do you generally get your best deals on ammo??? I'm finding it very hard to be competitive on ammo by the time you factor in shipping expenses. Any input would be appreciated![:)]

    I'm not a dealer, but as a buyer high prices have forced me to now hand load almost all my own ammo.

    ecc, my two main distributers i use do not charge much for shipping. one place charges 7.50 for a fuel surcharge, and the other a 3.50 surcharge on orders over 750 dollars, no matter how much it wieghs. i get my fall ammo in july, it comes on a truck and last year it wiegh almost 4000 pounds, my shipping was 3.50 cents.

    Jerrys usually has the best prices but no great shipping. I would say RSR and Acusport give you shipping deals on a certain amount of order.

    Ellett has good shipping charges, too. Good folks to deal with. Ammo has just gone nuts.

    Aim Surplus, KY Imports. There used to be another company that I lost contact with, (something Distributing) That would go the last mile for you. Wish I could remember who they were.

    Ammo is a loosing battle....you will find that the serious shooters have either internet access and have it shipped straight to them for about what you can get it for.....or load themselves and just need you to get primers, brass, and dyes for them. You can lug huge cases of ammo in and BEARLY make a dollar on it to keep "in the game." Or....you can just keep a modest amount of each calibur in stock and special order any odd ball requirements that come along. Its really not something that should keep you up nights.......

    These are some guys I use.....

    Chatanooga....my sales rep competes with just about all prices pretty well and they have their own truck that makes a run once a month (no shipping.)

    Ellet....not bad prices and if you call about once a week you will find an INSANE deal every once in a while

    Bangers...they are local and I can pick up my order (no shipping)

    RSR...these are one of my main guys and because I order SO MUCH from them I am on a premium ordering level with them and get pretty nice prices.


    THEN there is Century.....they are great for huge case orders of military surplus types....but I swear....NON CORROSIVE....cannot be stressed too much when you are ordering from them.

    You really have to check around and give each distributor the other guy's prices to have them try to beat each other. They will NOT give you a deal unless they have to most of the time. I don't like using the guys who sell to the public for the same price....like Midway or the other "internet" giants. Nothing is more aggrivating than some guy coming in telling me how much HE can get it for....more power to them (but you have to be nice.) Just let the ammo run itself....don't stock up and ignore the mess you hear. Worry about the GUNS and the rest will fall into place.
