Most accurate .22 for the money
I am looking to buy a .22 for inproving my shooting and for eventually entering some competitions with it. It seems to be that about the best .22 for the money is the cz brand. I really want the bull barrel and I plan on using peep and tang sights on it. The rifle I really want is the cz 453 varmint, @ 439.99 from whittakerguns.com and for about 515 or so including tax from the local walmart(special order). + I still have to buy the sights and get them installed. This is getting to be more than I was planning on and wanted some advice. Is this the most accurate .22 for the money? Can I get it cheaper any where else? I was planning on spending up to $500 and would be very happy with spending less, and could go higher if I am getting an amazing product. Square me away before I get in over my head. Thanks.

Any single-shot, or mag-fed Bolt action .22LR. 0 -
There are still Rem. 513T's available with Lyman or Redfield peep sights for the money you are wishing to spend. Most of the armory's and shooting clubs used them to train young shooters. Another rifle to look for is the Win. 52. Same situation with the Win. and sights. You can also keep on the lookout for older Anshutz rifles. They will cost a little bit more but will still have a lot of shooting life left in them. 0 -
bought the middle son a savage a couple years ago, very accurate right out of the box, for under 150.00[;)] 0 -
Ditto on the Remington 513T. The bores are almost always good and decent examples are out there for $350 to $450. Have never had a 510,511,512,or 521T that was not a very accurate gun. 0 -

Look for a used small bore posistion rifle, it will give you the accuracy you desire and have the option of upgrading to being competitive. Here are a few good ones to start with:

Best for the money? one of the CZ 513 BRNO Training rifles. 0 -
Motto of the Mossberg Company was "More gun for your money". Find a Mossberg 44, or a 44US. Bolt, bull barrel, lead lapped bore, peeps. Just found one in excellent shape for under $200, but that was a good deal. 0 -
What about a Ruger 10/22?
I have popped sparrows at 75 yards with open sights with mine.
I have never shot anything more accurate and inexpensive0 -
Go with this. I have one and love it! The accutrigger is super sweet.[^][8D]

Best bang for the buck may be a Savage with the accutrigger. I know my 93fv (synthetic stock, heavy barrel) in 22wmr is more accurate than I am or the cheap scope I have on it... 0 -
+1 on MK19 post.In indoor 22 cal 4 position bulleye Shooting at 50 feet, the 10 ring is .22 in dia. If you serious you need the horse to make you competitive. My Cz 453 Varmint with single set trigger is very accurate but can't hold a candle to Win 52,Rem 40X or other target rifles. You need to be clean(all 10s) in Prone and sitting and you can not drop many in kneeling and offhand.Good luck and it's a great sport. 0 -
Many a competitions have been won with a mossberg 44 or US 44. Pretty much comes competition ready. and they just dont make them like they used to. 0
