Suggestions for a digital camcorder

Wondering if you guys had any suggestions for a digital camcorder. I don't need all the "bells and whistles", but I'd like a quality camara that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

  not an easy question to answer...basically, the best you can afford...the one i bought has a heap of functions that i have never used and never will, so in a lot of ways i wasted my money.

  Handycam or if that is out of your price range my suggestion is make sure it is compatible for a night vision lens[8D]
