It was a Very Good Day

My dad and I talk about guns all the time. But today was perfectly calm, about 55 degrees and we weren't in the middle of any projects. So we took the Smiths out to Red Hill Gun Club.
For a 79-year-old man just two months out of rotator cuff surgery, that coot can still shoot.
He'd never shot my model 14 before and was doing well enough with that, but he's downright deadly with his 5906. When it came to rapid fire, I was seriously outclassed. Something about the thirty-plus years he put in as a cop, I'd imagine.

Of course, he was belly-achin' about how poorly he was shooting...yadda-yadda-yadda...all the while just punching neat little holes in center mass.

Nothin' wrong with getting owned by the guy who taught you to shoot.

    Sounds like when I take my boys trap shooting. I can out shoot them, but then they shoot about twice a year, and I burn about 5,000 rounds of shells.

    If they would just practice a little they could beat me. Young hand eye coordination beats old age if they just practiced a little.

    Yessir, you're absolutely right.
    We spend a lot of time in his shop or on his porch, but, to me, the difference between a grand day and a Great Day is the smell of burnt gunpowder[:D]
