Off to Raise Money...
...for Hospice of the Plains.
They came to the radio station to promote their annual hog-roast and auction and they wanted to know if we could do something special to attract bidders.
So I offered something nobody has ever seen around here.
An eight-hour work day from me.
High School FFA's do it all the time, but nobody around these parts can remember seeing me work a full day. So we'll see what that brings.
Several rancher friends of mine are said to be bidding. The sale barn is interested. And, since I've been known to slag on Walmart on the air (though I gotta admit, they do give generously to the community), so there is a rumour that they'll be there.
Wish me luck. At least the hog and fixin's are free.

Back again.
The hog roast was magnificent.
I've got a long day tomorrow, so I came home early.
The bad news is, I only went for three hundred.
The good news is, my next-door-neighbor bought me. So I get to ride around in a Snap-On truck for eight hours with a fella that I've known and respected for thirteen years.
The better new is, since I'm broadcasting the first four hours of the "Dirty Job", he gets about eight hundred bucks' worth of advertising for less than half.
I'll know Monday morning what the total for the night is.
