    Interesting, but I thought he butchered it. The same as so many "artists" butcher the National Anthem. He has an amazingly powerful voice though.

    I think you fellas missed his point.
    His claim is that the song was written off of a African harmony, most probably one of sorrow and the white ship captain heard this sorrowful African harmony and wrote the lyrics to fit the harmony that he had heard.
    It sounded like a plausible theory to me.

    I got his point, but I still think he ruined a beautiful song, regardless of where the song came from.
