I have an M44. It is not accurate, and the battle sight is set for about 400 yards. 0 -
They are cheap surplus military rifles. They suite the purpose for which they were built to do. They are NOT tackdrivers. IMO they are worth what you pay for them. I own an m44 and will purchase a 91/30 and convert it to a sniper conversion. Decent rifles. 0 -

A 100 bucks for the rife, another for 900 rounds of ammmo and you're in for a good time this summer. Find a place with lots of big rocks, and create a whole pile of little ones. Pure pleasure.

Not a whole lot of thought neccesary on a Nagant purchase.
At the price they sell for everyone should have one or more.0 -
Some of the Mosin Nagants are accurate.
The Finnish M39 had to shoot 1 1/3 inch groups or it would not leave the factory.
Some of the Russian 91/30s are pretty accurate.
But that M44 puts out some fireball at night, and has a cool bayonet.0 -
the pattern will tighten up if you extend the bayonet to fixed position. good beater rifle[;)] 0 -

I had a Polish carbine version (is that the M44?) and I still have a Finnish Mosin Nagant rifle. They fire the rather large 7.62X54 Russian cartridge, which I think is roughly equivalent to the .30-06.
The carbine was one loud sumbitchee, I'll say that for it. I gave it to my buddy who is of Polish descent and who loves all things Polish. He just had to have it, so now he does.
My Finnish Nagant rifle is a very accurate rifle. I've heard a lot about poor accuracy in the Mosin Nagant, but this gun is very accurate.
There are a lot of people that collect the Mosin Nagant and it's variants, much the same way many collect the M1 Garand.0 -
I have the M1895 Revolver.
Functions very well
Not accurate at long ranges
Not good for self defense because you unload and reload cartridges one at a time.
I still like it.
Made in the 1930's and was never issued.

Mine are very accurate. They either hit the target or the back stop; that is good enuf fer me. [:D] The round is as powerful as a 30-06 and the rifles are cheap and reliable. Ammo has doubled in price but still cheaper than shooting a 458 Lott. 0
