    has wood grips, i think theyr'e aftermarket with a few scratches on them, the barrel bore is clean,as is overall the gun. just looks like someone carried it in a holster. {few bright spots on the end of the barrel}.

    If you've never owned a Ruger MKI, II, or III.

    Read the threads on it's care and feeding. It's a booger to put together. Unless you follow the instruction manual to the letter.

    I love plinking -and hunting- with my MKII. It's more accurate than I deserve.
    But it can be less than fun to reassemble. If this one doesn't come with an owner's manual, then getting one (or downloading it, maybe?) would be worthwhile. There was a thread here recently about a quick take-down that seemed like a real good idea. I don't have the funding for one, but those who have them say they do make reassembly a whole lot easier. One of the members even emailed me with the stats on one. I hope he reads this, because I can't remember who it was[:o)]

    My first MKII standard I bought in high school and literally wore it out. Every time I took it apart (rarely by the way) I had to have our neightbor put it back together for me. My wife bought me a MKII target about 10 years ago and a friend finally showed me how to put it back together. Once you learn the trick and get the hang of it it is pretty easy. Fun guns and they are tough!

    For $139.00 I would get it you won't be sorry.

    BUY IT!!! I bought a mint 1982 vintage MkII last year for about 250. It may have been over priced, but I don't care it had everything I was looking for in a 22 pistol. Reassembly isn't that bad, especially when you end up taking it apart and putting it back together 10 times trying to get a Volquartsen target trigger to work properly.

    Colonel Plink, the speed strip kit is made by Majestic Arms in NY. Have them on both of mine for years and love them. Great to have with slip-on or wrap-around grips that cover the lever on the back strap. Also keeps the receiver to frame fit tight because you no longer have to take them apart, especially on the 22/45.

    I've still got a Standard Mk. 1 that I've never 'field stripped.' It just gets a good
    soaking every 5-10 years, reoiled and off she goes. They last forever.

    I want another 6-7/8 target taper, blue.

    To my eye, they're just the prettiest of the whole family.

    Especially with walnut grips.

    Bet its gone already. One downside to the MK III in my opinion, it has the loaded chamber indicator, too politically correct for me. But at that price I would buy it.

    My favorite is the Mk III Hunter (stainless/fluted barrel) - I scoped mine with
    quick release mounts. Perfect .22 'rabbit pinker.'
