It's not 'my studio idea.' It's the idea of the three owners. I've been hired as a 'head hunter' and scout for potential interests in cinematographers and post production studios, as well as various distribution organizations/networks - especially in the Asian market.
There are six major motion picture studios, at the moment. They are the parent companies; Fox, Paramount, Sony, MGM, NBC Universal, Time Warner, and Buena Vista Group (Disney). Each of those studios are owners of lessor studios, subsidiary production studios and speciality corporations that deal in sound, animation and post production tasks.
We are looking to have a studio at least as big as any of them, if not larger.

I watched this B movie caled Warriors Of Heaven And Earth, the extras on the DVD showed how they (english speaking) were working with the local chinese filmmakers there (chinese speaking). those dudes might be good to get to know.
made in China with Chinese actors and Uzbek extras, with chinese film studion and production crew, and marketed in the U.S.
..and it's a good movie to check out.0 -

Yes. It's all new to me. I have had no previous experience in the 'entertainment/movie business' BUT I have a LOT of life experience with people and computer research skills. I was asked to come aboard and "have some fun" ... so, I dropped out of retirement and did.
It's been a hoot - best ride I've ever had, yet. As for Asia, I ended up finding the best distribution & representation guy in Bangkok, an American who's married to a Thai lady who set up the distribution network 20 years ago, including all of Asia (except for N. Korea) from Baliwood to Japan (including China). ... and it turns out we knew each outer - went to school together in Chula Vista from 7th to 12th grade! ... could have blown me over with a feather!

That thought has crossed my mind. I've got a guy in London who has been sending me scripts on a regular basis. I'm awaiting the first really good Zombie script. If it looks really good I'll be tapping quite a few GB'ers to join us, up in Calgary (that's where most horror and westerns are shot now). I've got a few of you really pegged for some 'good old fashioned gory killings.'

My business cards have the name Golden State Motion Picture Studio, San Marcos, on them ... but the naming issue has been the biggest headache in this whole adventure. The three owners can't quite get it together on the name - for legal reasons, it was supposed to be settled a long time ago. ... ain't my problem, so I'm just another curious bystander.
Zulu, no, but I've taken resumes from two other (famous) GB'ers, so far, and we'll see. Both look to have what we may be looking for. So far, I've found 7 new hires - including a guy down the street - and talking to 2 more Monday. In 3-6 months we will have 3500+ employees ... or, so I've been told. There will be a transition period where more of the currently leased (by other studios) space reverts back to the studio (whoever we are) and more employees will be hired. Then there's also the 'spin off businesses' that are appearing - studio related new businesses, contractually linked to the studio - quite an array of them - but, I just hear about that stuff by rumor. Mostly, I focus on what I need to, don't have any time to dilly dally around anymore.
If you'd send me your resume, with, of course, the normal $5000 filing fee (make the check out to me) ... I'd be happy to 'review' it![:D][:D][:D]
So, as I've said before, if anyone wants to see a real live motion picture studio in action, drop on by in a year ... and I'll probably be a tour guide by then![:D]0
