i can see a time coming where everyone in the world will be chipped at birth...it will have all of your personal information on it, and as information needs upgrading it will be done at a government building somewhere...all your banking details will be recorded, passport info...driving licence...just about everything will be recorded and everywhere you go there will be data readers set up and everytime you buy something or go anywhere all the relevant information will be recorded...and i can just hear the idiots saying that it is only for convenience...and "we' guarantee that your personal information will be protected!...scary story!..but the future for us all... 0 -

speed pay, walk in a store, and walk out with your purchase no lines to wait in, and of course they will pass the savings of less employees, millions no longer lost on shoplifting to us, no more debit or credit cards, or drivers licence to carry, schools and daycares will have alarms that alert when a registered sex offender is on the premises

I can see RFID chipping for a few purposes only.
1) Voluntarily chip your child to aid in locating and recovering them should they be kidnapped. The child has the option to have it removed at age 18 if they want to.
2) Chipping of military personnel in a combat zone. Tracking and recovery of remains or POWS/hostages. It would come out immediately upon exiting the zone. There was talk of chipping the dog tags at one point for medics to have access to your health history (allergies, blood type, meds etc)
3) POSSIBLY chipping the violent criminals that are released on parole. Take it out once the parole is over and their sentence is completed. I know some would say to chip the child sex offenders for life...not sure I go with that.0 -

Why would it need to be embedded?
I carry a chip but it is not embedded in my person.
A cell phone could be used for that matter.0 -

MVP...for the purpose of the kiddos it would probably need to be implanted...otherwise they would forget to put it on (necklace, bracelet) or the criminal would take it off/away (cell phone) and toss it.
As to the military, it could easily be the dog tags that are chipped.
FCD...I read that thread today as well. I understand the concern of the govt "forgetting" to take out the chip upon exiting the zone. That is why the dog tags could be chipped as well.0 -

Agree sav...the ones who want to control, will most likely use what could be a useful and good tool and turn it against us.
I have no kids, so I cannot say I would or would not chip mine. Most of my family lives in very small towns in Arkansas and the incident of kidnapping is miniscual...so they do not think of it. One of my friends who is a equestrian vet around Houston says he is thinking about it for his child because of the crime.
Unfortunately it is true that the govt will abuse this.
However...I dont think I would have a problem if the ICE folks chipped every illegal they put their hands on (without telling them) and then sent them back home...make it alot easier to track them coming back across the border [}:)]0 -
