My last semester in college my school added "transsexual" bathrooms. Not going to mention what school.... but will say in the 70's several protesters were shot there.

At Frankfurt International Airport in Germany, I was standing at a urinal doing my thing as a cleaning lady was mopping the urinals. She got to where I was standing and went on around. Just told her good day in german, and she replied back the same. Guess it was no big deal.

I lived in Germany for six years. There was usually the standard, men and women toilet facilities, but generally, in larger public places, restaurants, stores, etc., there was a restroom attendant. This person was almost always a grandmotherly type with a small table and chair. You'd pay her about five cents in german pfennigs ("cents" equivalent) to use the john. She usually had an assortment of pornographic pictures and postcards for sale on her little table. If you didn't pay her before yanking out old blue, she'd come up to you while you were pissing on the wall and poke you several times quite hard on the shoulder and get you to pay up right there. The toilet facilities didn't usually have male urinals. Just a tile wall with a gutter at the bottom and a long pipe across it about chest high that kept a slight, steady flow of water going to keep the wall and gutter clear. Ah, the good old days!

In Japan, that's another story. The toilets in many places are these tiny little 3' x 5' closet-rooms with this greenish porcelain toilet that is almost flush (no pun[:)]) with the floor. There's no seat, and you have to somehow drop your pants, squat over this thing, do your thing, and wipe (if there's any paper) without falling back in it or messing your trousers. Nasty[:0][xx(].

We had mostly co-ed bathrooms at my college. And except for a very few halls, all of the dorm bathroom/showers were co-ed. In fact in my dorm if you wanted to get from one end to the other you walked from hall, through two bathrooms, through another hall, through.....you get the picture.

It starts to seem normal pretty quickly.

England had the stainless metal covering the wall
    to the drain,
Japan was the weirdist. I never did get use to that.
I had a japanese girl friend for a while.
if you thought is was hard on a guy, a women on high heels.
I just thought it very odd, here I am at the urinal
three girls came walking in, right past me, they stop
hold a conversation, which seemed like forever.

But I did enjoy the bath houses, I loved the hot water
after a day on the slopes, go to the bath house and enjoy
the hot water, just soak and relax.

When I was in China I found that there were no toilets, just holes in the floor that you had to squat over. Even in fancy hotels and restaurants, still just a porcelain hole in the floor! Very uncomfortable!

For me, I go into a restroom to perform a required bodily function.
For all you folks that have sex in a public restroom, I would bet it puts a real damper on it. [:0]

Senator Craig from Idaho doesn't like unisex bathrooms either! [:o)]

Our local Lowes (new less than 1 yr old) has 3 restrooms... mens... womans and unisex.... I dont care...

I usually go in the womans... but have gone in the mens at games when the ladys had too long of a line. There are many unisex restrooms in Germany, where I spent usually 1 month +/- of my summers growing up, it never bothered me then and it does not now. So you may see some guys wang.. or he may hear you peeing... who care... I sure dont.

When I was traveling with my family a couple of years ago we stopped at a truck stop for gas and to use the facilities. My then 3 y.o. son went into the restroom with me. We did our business and as we were leaving a rather large guy with a long ponytail came in and stood at the urinal. As we opened the door to leave the restroom my son, never bashful OR quiet, asked "Why is there a girl in THIS bathroom?" If the guy heard he never indicated it.

I guess if I'm ever in that area I should use the MENS room....since I obviously have bigger "Kahonees" (spelling?) than those lawmakers out there. I DARE some idiot man to walk into a ladies room that MY little girls have occupied!

I hate the european cleaning women. It seems to me that you pay them to make sure the bathroom is dirty as they are NEVER clean. Once I got sick of this and went up to the old Putzfrau and said, "Hey, Oma- wenn du das Klo putzt, denn werd' ich bezahlen." (Hey grandma- whe you wash the toilet, then I'll pay.) She wasn't very pleased but never bothered me again- nor was I ever pleased with her restroom's cleanliness.

How do you get that job anyhow?

Unisex toilets don't bother me if a one person affair, with locking door (I mean hey, that's what we have in our homes) but if it is a place with space for two or more, it bothers me. I can't release an explosive dump with the associated noise or stench if some girl is in there with me- nor do I want to hear her talking to her girlfreinds while they pee.

ask any bar owner they will tell you women can be grossly creative with their feminine hygiene products, i was joking above on their behalf, but i really wouldn't want to share one, in 2 years i never caught the wench who became known as the tampon bandit, a "used" white mouse would be slung onto the bathroom mirror each and every month, not to mention the ones stuffed in the back of the toilet or tossed behind it, and not just in the one i owned the subject was brought up at the bar owners association meeting once, and we agreed it was something you just have to deal with since there is no real legal way of catching them
