COMPUTER VIRIS?
anyone ever have any trouble with their computer after clicking on a post.yesterday a was reading the posts on G.B. and clicked on a post and read it, went to click to another post and all hell broke loose. the screen started rolling showing different threads and pictures. i couldn't click out of NOTHING. i had to shut the computer off manually. this has never happened before. when i gained control of the computer i did a scan with SPYBOT and it showed 7 critical items. then a scan with ADWARE and it showed 4 critical objects

Get the following programs (all are free):
Spybot
AVG Free Edition Anti-virus
AVG Free Edition Anti-spyware.
You should be good after running those. AVG is rated by MANY computer gurus to be one of the best anti-virus programs available. It's WAY better than Norton or McAfee.0 -
honestly, it almost sounds like your mouse went temporarily haywire. like your button got stuck. are you using an older mouse? spybot and adware will only help you remove spyware. those critical items spybot found are probably not that big a deal. zulu is right, you should get AVG. also, another tip. most people don't realize this, but most ISPs now include a whole suite of computer protection free with their internet service. i have found this to be true with adelphia, comcast and sbc/at&t. so if you have cable or dsl, i would go to your providers website and see if they offer anything free. it will probably be a better product than AVG. 0 -
There is something new wrong (dealing out viruses with Google) - it doesn't show up on Malware detectors - I posted it yesterday - bad news for PC owners - nobody showed any interest - Google said they are "working on it."
... might want to Goggle it.

brand new mouse, 3 days old. just bought norton before i found out about AVG. just seems odd never happened before0 -
you're right, that is odd. i still tend to think it was something hardware related the way your computer reacted. especially since all you did was click on a GB post. i could see that happening on some other website, but clicking on a post should be fairly safe here. if it hasn't happened again you're probably in the clear. 0 -
it's called a mouse trap, you can get 200 popups in 1 minute, and yes it has happened here before, someone posted a photo, and that photo had a virus embedded in it, they can hide a entire virus program in one pixel of a photograph and cookie it right to you

after i did the scan i have had no other problems0 -
last time it happened my av caught it each time, so i do not know, everyone was freaking out because every time you opened the thread you would get nailed, i copied each photo and nailed it down to one user that was unaware of it, he deleted it and it went away
what topic was it this time?0
