AMMUNITION BAN BILLS ON THE MOVE IN ILLINOIS GENERAL ASSEMBLY

A pair of ammunition ban bills are up for hearing in the House Executive Committee this week. If enacted, either of these bills would effectively ban the purchase of ammunition in Illinois. The bills in question are HB 4269 sponsored by Rep. Monique Davis (D-Chicago), and HB 4349 sponsored by Rep. Naomi Jakobsson (D-Champaign).
Here is what passage of either of these bills would mean to you:
1. Ammunition manufacturers would be required to imprint a secret code on cartridge casings so that the purchaser of the ammunition could be identified.
2. When you purchase ammunition, that secret code would be registered to your name.
3. All your ammunition purchases would be registered with the Illinois State Police.
4. You would be responsible for all eternity for ammunition registered to you.
5. It would be in your best interest to destroy all expended ammunition casings because an unaccounted for empty casing could be used to frame you for a crime you did not commit.
6. You would have to surrender all unregistered ammunition you now own to the Illinois State Police.
7. Reloading would be banned.
8. The Illinois Department of Revenue would be authorized to place a tax on ammunition and raise that tax any time for any reason.
9. Taxes and increased manufacturing costs would raise the price of a box of .45 ammo to $200 or more.
10. Gun ownership would become too costly for most people.
WHAT YOU MUST DO TO HELP SAVE YOUR GUN RIGHTS:
1. Call Rep. Monique Davis' office at (217) 782-0010 and POLITELY tell the person that answers that you are a law-abiding gun owner and you would oppose Rep. Davis' attempt to ban ammunition.
2. Call Rep. Naomi Jakobsson's offce at (217) 558-1009 and POLITELY tell the person that answers that you are a law-abiding gun owner and you would oppose Rep. Jakobsson's attempt to ban ammunition.
3. Call each of the following members of the House Executive Committee and POLITELY tell whoever answers the phone that you OPPOSE HB4269 and HB4349 and that you would like them to vote against those bills in the Executive Committee. Remember, you represent the gun owners of this state, so BE POLITE:

It was long ago, (maybe 10 yrs) a good friend of mine who is now passed said that there won't be a gun ban at first. He said that first would come the ammunition ban in some form. He was a man of foresight and wisdom. I really miss him. He also stated that owning a bullet press would be the same as running a meth lab or growing pot somewhere. I can only educate my children to prepare them for what is coming in their lifetime. It's not pretty, look around you, watch the news. 0 -
I have a strange feeling the gun grabbing democraps will pass this with ease. I'll buy ammo out of state if I have to.

What we need is a class action lawsuit against the state of Illinois not only for civil rights violations but of course the 2nd amendment.

Well, they failed their magazine ban last year.
THis proposal would also effect everything from .22's to shotguns.
I don't see it gaining steam, but yet it was proposed.0 -

I'm afraid that is what we will see in the next 50 yrs or maybe sooner the way things are going. Try to look at the 'big picture' .........this 'ammo restriction' is an attempt by the POLITICANS/LAWMAKERS to slowly disarm the American public. But ask your local law enforcement and they will tell you to arm yourself if you can legally do it. We don't have any problem around here. I live in a town of 632 inhabitants and everybody knows that everybody has a gun. I don't have any guns, cause back in December some little green men from the planet zipperzap came down my chimney and stole every one of my guns. The pinheads in Illinois deserve every restriction their selected officials hand them! Since I was a very young boy, I spent summers in Mt. Vernon at my Grandparents' house. We were given BB guns and taught how to shoot when we were still less-than-teens. I went back to Mt. Vernon in 1977 to visit my Gramps' neighbors (cute daughter), and invited her to an informal plinking session at Johnsons' Woods. When I went to the gunstore that my Gramps had frequented with me so many times, I walked in, said howdy to Walt, the owner, discussed how things were in nM, and asked for a brick of .22s. He asked if I had a state-issued FOID card to buy the ammo with. I said, "What?" He then proceeded to let me know that the pinheads had passed a gun law that required a FOID card to even have a gun in Illinois, and the same card let you buy ammo. He even went so far as to let me know that since I had tried to buy ammo without the card, he had to let "them" know. 22.5 hours later, I was back in nM, buying all the ammo I ever wanted at much more reasonable prices, and in vastly greater selection than Walt had.

I lived in Illinois back some 30 years ago and you needed a FOID card then to buy ammo..[:(] 0 -
FOID cards are a joke anyone can have one so long as the state police give you a clean bill of health. Even 11 mo. olds. 0 -
I've never heard of a foid card. But it sounds like a bunch of oatmeal to me,,, I haven't lost anything in Illinois 0 -
