anyone familiar with this show?
I'll watch an episode or two when I'm bored.
Anyway...what the hell makes people do that kind of stuff to their pets?????
Why do you get a dog (or other animal for that matter) if you are going to starve it half to death???
Personally I'd like just 10 minutes alone with one of those "people" in the interrogation room [}:)]

I can't even watch that show.
One of my biggest failings is an inability to watch a dog suffer0 -

Me and the wife...i mean my wife got me hooked on the show...Ever see the one with the rot and the little dog and at the end they where friends the whole time...i like the show and luv to see the jackofffs go to jail for abusin there pets...[:p] 0 -

Animals can not be responsible for other animals, it is a proven fact! These animals have no feelings, no remorse, no ability to reason and should be locked up for a very long time. If they can do this kind of stuff to a dog or cat, imagine what they would do to a human! 0 -
I watched the show once and was irritated by two things; 1) The abuse people will heap upon perfetly good dogs. 2) That these animal cops could just come onto property and start scoping the place out. Do they have search warrants? Do they need search warrants? Don't get me wrong I am in no way condoning or excusing the mistreatment of animals, I'm just concerned that the excuse, "We heard your dog yelping," could be used to allow unlawful search of property. Do any of the LEOs on this forum know whether search warrants are required for the animal control people? It's quite possible my fears are completely unfounded. 0 -

I'm sure they do need warrants but in most of the cases shown they are responding to a complaint and as often the animals are in view of the public way. I believe if they are witnessing a criminal act they have the right to enter the premise to investigate.
In many of these cases the animals were acquired when they were young and cute and once they grew up the owners lost interest. In some cases it is a status symbol (rots and pits) but the owners have no desire to properly care for them. Then there are those people who have some mental illness and truely care about the animals but do not have the mental faculties of financial means to properly care for them.
Funny how you rarely hear PETA getting involved in these cases.0 -

from what I've seen on the show, some of these agencies have "full police powers" so they can enter private property on "probable cause".
I'd say that seeing a dog chained in a yard with no food and looking like a canine version of an Auschwitz prisoner is cause enough to enter the rpoperty and take a closer look.
IIRC for cases where there was not a clear and present mortal danger to the animal, the officers had to get a warrant.0 -

I watch animal planet all the time and I watch those shows too....There are no words to say what I feel when I see the kind of abuse some of these animals have endured....
But it is just not in those cities...take a walk sometime,....see what goes on....you will be shocked at what goes on in your own neighborhood...0 -

I'm accually pretty sick of all of it. People get in more trouble for harming a little furry anything than they do for a human life. They're just animals people. As Uncle Ted says, "animals don't have rights! The next time I hear some one mention animal rights, me and little Suzy here are gonna go out and kill three of something each!" 0 -

I disagree...anyone who has the nerve to starve THEIR OWN dog or cat to death should not get 1-3 years in prison...they should be put to death before they decide to get their jollies capturing and murdering humans...or become a torture "contractor" for the DOD

So an old farmer who kills a litter of puppies by drowning them in a gunny sack should be punished more than a little mung girl for delivering a live baby, killing it and throwing it in a dumpster?

I'd prefer that said farmer would give them up to a shelter for adoption...but your scenario is a lot more humane than, let's say tying the dogs up in his yard and starving them to death...which happens all the friggin' time on that show. And its not like the starving animals had GI tract problems, as soon as the humane society people started feeding them properly they returned to normal apprearance and health.
Again, I can't imagine what kind of person would willingly neglect and starve an animal they CHOSE to take as a pet [V]
EDIT: forgot to add something to my earlier reply...your baby-killer case, usually they get off because some lawyer gets them off on some BS insanity/postpartum depression defense. IMo this is also wrong and just cases should minimally be tried as murder 2...preferrably murder 10 -
i hate to break it to you guys, but it is common practice that profesfinal breeders do what they use the term "cull the litter" everyday, when a litter of puppies may be of a outbreed to their prize breed {stray dog jumped the fence for example} the puppies are killed asap, they will not allow these puppies to leave their kennel with their prized name attached
i know, i know i'm full of sheet how can this happen, it does, and is unspoken of to the public

Sorry to break this to you but not all breeders do it...As a matter of fact I know of none that do....
The reason I know?...I work for one remember?...the boss is a cat breeder ...his wife breeds dogs....and NONE of the dogs were killed as puppies even when a male chinese crested mated with a yorkie...all puppies are raised and then sold...And any breeders we deal with do NOT cull or kill puppies...they are ALL sold...0 -
