I like running a chainsaw.......

but my body doesn't. Cut a medium sized wateroak yesterday, sore as heck this morning. My back feels like a hot poker is sticking in it. Now I have to deliver the load of firewood to my brother.
Oh well, the joys of getting old.

    Me too ... I find running a chain saw a rather exhilarating experience. Gets the old adrenalin flowing even at 63 years young!

    If I work bent over from the waist while bucking the log, my back is killing me the next day. If I kneel while bucking, it is a LOT better. But there IS something satisfying about a REALLY sharp chain, a smooth running saw, a solid stream of good sized chips spraying from the cut, and NOT paying some Arab Sheik for my winter's heat. [:)]

    Then are Huge trees MT357

    The first is a Cedar but is that second a Maple?

    Me too but my back certainly lets me know and I am 52. Best thing is a good saw and a sharp chain. I have wo huskvarna's one is a 261 with a 20" bar which does most of the work and a 375 with a 28" bar does about 5% of the work.

    The white wood and thin bark had me stumped.
    I knew it wasn't a Hemloc or Fir because the bark would have been 4 inches thick on a tree that size.
    I wonder is that registered on the UW rictor scale.

    I spent this last summer working with a crane operator who is the nephew of the guy who invented chainsaw chain(as we know it)and founded the Oregon company.
    The story is interesting, and I got quite an education on saw chain!
