i cant help you with an over the counter solution, but my father has the same problem. he had custom orthotics made, wore them religiously for a while(maybe a year, i dont really know). and it went away. he hasnt worn them in quite some time and he's pain/discomfort free. id say spring for the custom jobs.

Yeah, get the podiatrist to make a custom pair. They do work but it takes awhile. I'm fine now without them.

You dont need to pay $$$ for custom fitted. Get Walk Fits. They work better than custom fitted and are Waaay less. What is your shoe size?

I have a pair that my wife ordered and never used, do you want them? The only problem is that they are a small. I have had the custom fit and these are better. they come with 3 differen height adjustments and they dont get rotten like the custom leather ones. You will be happy with the Walk Fit. Let me know if you want these. Todd

Sure. How small is small? I'll try them if you're giving them to me. If not, I'll buy my own!

There is a "Good Feet Store" (or was it the "Good Foot Store"?) anyhow they have these inserts that are way better than the over the counter junk. It's the Good Feet Store I just looked it up.

You can get solid plastic arch support inserts at Target for $20.00. If you go to the foot doctor they will probably cost $40.00 and ins doesn't pay for it. If you have what you think you have, then the whole problem is that either you never had enough arch in your foot or your arch has fallen (how old are you or how much walking/marching have you done?).

They have different arch supports, some higher than others. Get a pair that has an arch that is considerably more than what your foot has now (don't go overboard) because you need to form your foot to restore the arch your foot had before they started hurting. If you get the arch support that is high enough to do the job, you will probably think that when you start wearing them that they are too high because your foot will probably hurt more with the new arch supports than they do now. You can allieveate that pain somewhat by starting to wear the new arch support only on the foot that has been giving you the most problems and work on the other foot later after you get your first foot back in shape.

It will probably take a few months to get your feet back in shape. When you are wearing the new arch supports, it the pain from them gets to be too much, just take the supports out and walk without them until you can stand to put them back in. In other words, when you first start wearing them, DO NOT plan on wearing them all day. Start out with only about l hour per day and each day or so add one hour.

It will probably take several weeks of wearing the new arch supports before you even start to believe your feet will ever feel normal again. But they should at some point in the future. Good luck.

BTW, I am not a foot doctor but I used to live on the same street as one years ago.

That should be a sticky right there!!!!! If people with foot problems follow that advice with good plastic arch supports, and quit gaining weight, They will be more productive and live a much happier life. Foot problems suck.

I think my foot problem started when I rammed my toes in to the outside of the bath tub many moons ago. So my toes are out of whack ever since. Then one day I took a turn too sharp and smashed them dogs again and it was fixed. Unfortunately I smashed them toes again and I'm back to having to pop the toes every time I take the shoe off. I almost want to smash my foot in to a wall but I have a feeling I'll make it worse and not fix it. One day I'll take a corner too sharp and I'll be all better[:D].

I used to use tennis balls to roll around under foot but I got this wooden roller from a culinary joint. I think it was for making raviolies or some thing like that. The odd shapes in the rolling pin really works the kink out of them feet real quick. Then I've been eye balling some of those knobby drier balls (which is supposed to eliminate dryer sheets) and they look like a treat for tied feet. Speaking of dogs they have good chew toys that does wonder on tired feet too (just don't let your dog seeing you abusing their chew toys by flavoring it with your stinky feet[:D]).

I don't think that'll pass as cross trainers but cross dressing[:D]. Them 5" platform shoes look anything like those stripper shoes? Or more like Frankenstien's monster's shoes?

As for "fitting in" wearing women's 5" platform shoes in Wally World (I'll take your word[V]). Next thing you'll tell us is that Mu-Mus aren't just for women[:D]. Or if you're of the Afrikan decent Dashiki. "Fight the power".
