Went to wal-mart today to buy my shotgun ammo. Price jumped from $16.97 for 100 round value pack to $23.98. [:(!][V][:(]
Looks like reloading shotgun shell is soon going to be worth the money.0 -
Know everybody keeps saying that the products there are different than what you would buy at another store.
Well today I finally found one that is different.
Got some of this in a Double stack of pre sliced. Always buy it from Market of choice. Well there was not a much in the package. Also the cheese was sliced much thinner. Since each slice is seperated with papper there is more paper to add weight.
It was thin enough that the slice sagged, normally it will stay flat.0 -
Same here at local Wal Mart. Federal is $16.97, Remington is $19.88, and Winchester just went to $23.98! Was $16.97 just a few weeks ago. Last I was hearing from people buying lead shot it was around $50 per 25 pounds, some people were paying more than that. Ouch!!! 0 -

Thats what I seen, I normally buy the Winchester. When I seen the price and how much it went up, I grabbed 10 value packs of the Federal's to stock up before there price increase. The Winchester Universal value pack is the same price as the Winchester AA's.[:0]0 -

As for walmart. Everybody sells china!!! Everybody buys from the same place. Case in point when primers went into short supply and couldn't be found. I went to wally and they had plenty.
For basic loads and reloading materials they are the cheapest. Not happy about it but this is what we have to deal with in todays retail enviroment.0 -

thats how walmart works, they come in with really low prices to drive out the local competition , and then, once the competition is gone and you got no other choices the prices start going up

Not everything at Walmart is made in China, especially not what this thread is talking about.
There are lots of quality, made in the USA stuff at Walmart. You just have to find it amongst the schlock that's on the shelf, but that's similar to most other retailers. Go into Best Buy, GM, Cabelas etc., and you'll find lots of schlock and lots of good stuff.0 -

I would think that statement over again about relaoding...have you checked the price of powder, and lead shot recently? Lead shot is approaching $40.00 a 25 lb bag. That would be $40/400 1 oz. loads, or 10 cents each. Figure about 8 cents for the powder, and 2 cents for the primer, and 5 cents for a cheap wad. That adds up to 25 cents per round, or 100 rounds for 25.00, and it does not include your time invested.0 -

Wal Mart is not responsible for the rise in prices of our ammo.
I have three independent gun stores in my town, an Academy, Big 5 Sports and two WM supercenters.
- My gun stores are usually high on the normal caliber ammo (223, 30/30, 243, 270), but they carry the other cals that WM doesnt (45/70, 45 Colt, 8mm)...so its a trade off.
Academy usually has a wide selection of ammo, but they are usually between WM and the gun stores on prices
- Big 5 just flat out sucks. They are way overpriced because they just dont move the stock that much.
- WM has normally been cheaper on the common calibers and that is where I usually get my 223 for varmints and my hunting and plinking ammo. WM can get good prices because of the simple fact that they buy in bulk.0
