I am a lobsterman, yet here I sit eating............ Imitation Crab Meat.

    Nay, old man. Folks in the food trade tend to be least interested in the product they handle for a living. You're still an upstanding pillar of society, emotionally stable, good family man, reasonably sober, and law abiding. Best, Joe

    Nope.

    Imitation crab meat is commonly made from skate. Since skate is a bottom-feeding fish, they compete with lobster for available food sources. So, by eating imitation crab, you are increasing the amount of food available to lobsters so that they grow bigger and you make more money.

    BTW, I totally made all of that up (except for the imitation crab being made from skate).

    I think i'm algeric to something in imitation crab meat. Every time i eat some (usually because it's mixed into something and i'm not told about it) I end up getting horribly nausia and a headache the size of Jupiter.

    i fished for them here for a living for years, and after the first 6 months i couldnt stand the thought of eating them anymore...the substitute stuff tastes alright...i`ve been told it is tripe[xx(] with flavour added...dont know if its true or not, but i like it.[;)]

    Actually, I tried eating it. It was cheap and had good nutrition information. But, it tasted like ......

    I would rather eat cheap frozen pollock. Actually looked up what the imitation meat is made from. Guess what, pollock [:0].

    I didn't really like it. Would rather have chicken or cheap pork or ham.

    At 40+ years old I had my first lobster at christmas. Can't say I missed out on much. Would have gladly traded it for an equal value of nice walleye fillets.
