is anyone good enough?

this is not intended to be a political but a discussion about worthiness, so please leave it in GD[:D]

I would like to know if you guys feel anyone is good enough to be President of the USA?
Can someone satisfy the diverse nature that the US has become?

I would like to think there is someone who could, but anymore I do not see it ever happening.

Please do not add current politicions or presidential hopefuls but what kind of a person would it take to make a good president?

    It would be great for a real leader to come forward. Someone who could once again unite us Americans in working together to solve these serious social and economical problems that we face. I don't see any of the current candidates be able to do that.

    Anyone with any brains would not want the job of president. That is why come election time, we see these mediocre, lifetime bureaucrats with nothing new to say and nothing new to offer the American people, running for office. The election process is skewed in favor of people with lots and lots of money. Your average Joe, with good ideas, who is not beholden to special interests, does not have a chance in the world of getting his message out, even though he could be 300 times better than the idiots who are running.

    I do not believe you will ever see a commoner rise up from nowhere and become President...I do not think that would be allowed.

    I actually think that they we do not need to be looking for new things to promote, but a back to the basics type government.
    A simpler more efficient government with more common sense.
    I just wonder if the citizens could ever vote that kind of a candidate as president.
    Everyone wants flashy, shiney new ideas and all that brings is a bigger more complicated mess.

    I think that there are people that would make a great President, but those people would not have a chance of getting elected with how our system is set up.

    A good President would be someone that would not "satisfy the diverse nature that the US has become", but someone who would do whats in the best for the nation as a whole.

    Grandpa comes to mind, but i don't think his "if you can't sleep at night, I didn't work you hard enough today" slogen would get him very far.
    I think a truely honest, good person, with a strong sence of right and wrong would never make it that far. They would be undermined, backstabed and killed before they ever got a chance.

    I gave up on competent Senators, Congressmen and Presidents several years ago. There hasn't been anyone that I really wanted to vote "for"----I usually end up just voting "against" the lesser (I think) of the two evils. Too me it's become a waste of time to even vote----same old type of "jackasses" running for office with nothing in mind except themselves. Been voting since I was 21----now 63yo----nothing has gotten any better----only worse.

    There are many people good enough, smart enough, couragous enough. The problem is there not in politics, a polotition by nature is someone who's job becomes getting re-elected, they dont give a hoot about the Great state of this country, if tey did we wouldn't be in the shape were in. 2/3 of a trillion dollars in debt in a war with a country that has 12% of the land mass, and 5% of the population. We have been in this war longer then our own civil war, and longer then eather of the World Wars.
    We need a president that has more concern with the future of this country then there own future.

    Just to satisfy ya'll!

    I am anounceing that I will be running for president in 2012!

    I honestly feel that I can do a better job than anyone that is currently running and it would be gaurenteed that I would VETO all the anti gun bills that came across my desk!

    I can also asure you there will be plenty of guns in the whitehouse!

    And I will pick my cabinet from people on this forum!

    Therein lays most of the problem.

    Set aside the issue of electability and lets get back to what the nation was founded on and get back to forcing government to operate within the constraints that the US Constitution places on it. It is, after all, the supreme law of the land, so who gives a crap what any of our "enlightened" voters and the Oprah generation thinks.

    Anyone honestly advocating these principals is okay by me.

    GRD...sorry. But I can't vote for you.

    Eric...the "commoner" become President? Happened to some guy from Arkansas a few years back. Came up as plain and as poor as they come. It can happen again.
