question about campaigning near voting areas
When I voted on Tuesday, there was a woman also in line to vote, and she was wearing a button, promoting one of the candidates for president in 2008. Is that considered campaigning w/in the specified restricted distance of the voting area?
I didn't know for sure, so I didn't make a stink. And I didn't dare ask any of the 100+-year-old ladies who were "running" the voting station.[8)]

It may differ on a state-by-state basis, but I don't think there's anything wrong with Joe Sixpack going in and wearing a t-shirt, button, etc. that says a candidates name or promotes a cause.
I think if you were actively campaigning for people, that would be a different story.
It is candidates and their campaigns that cannot engage in activity within X-number of feet from a polling station.0 -

In KY, wearing the button would be OK. But you can't hand out literature or actively politic within 300 feet of the polling place. 0
