C and R Question

I sent out my completed papers yesterday, and I was thinking about it today. I know I need a bound book to record guns in and out, should I sell any. But I was wondering, since the license is for collecting, do I record them in and then they are automatically mine, or do I have to record them out as being sold to myself if I want the gun. I was wondering how that worked. Anybody know?

    I am thinking about applying for my C&R.... not so much to acquire a ton of guns, but many companies give a discount to holders. Unfortunately my local PD is not all that firearm friendly..... how much of a problem will that create. Also between my father and I we own many guns, and do not actually have a gun safe, but rather converted a walk in closet to house them.... will that present any problems in obtaining a license? Any help and advice would be appreciated greatly... thanks.

    Your C&R has nothing to do with local PD. Its between you and the BATF. I don't think owning a safe is a requirement, Although, it is your responcibility to saftly secure those weapons. How you do that is your business. You also must keep a log of all C&R purchases. With a C&R the BATF does have to right to check your "related" inventory (only firearms purchased with C&R). From what I understand, they do not just come by randomly to check it out. There is a formal way they do this. You will have advanced notice, also, you have the option of bringing the firearms to them. Again, this is from what I read and how I interprete the laws. I have had my C&R for about 1 year now, and never even got a call from the BATF.

    EDIT: If I remember correctly, there is a paper in the application you send to you local PD, simply to inform them of this.

    The above is correct.

    As for the PD they can pizz off. All that is required for the C&R app is to fill out 2 copies, one goes to the ATF and one goes to the local PD "for their records" not for anything else.
