It pays to go to meijer with the girlfriend to develop pictures. as we were waiting to get them developed i checked out the sports section and saw a clearance tag under some ammo....checked the price...then walked out with a cartload of ammo.....got ALOT of weird looks at the checkout

Hey all...went to a gun show yesterday. Bought a Yugo SKS for $159 with all the accessories that come with it. It has all the cosmoline on it and will need to be cleaned. How did I do on it? This is my first gunshow buy.

I don't know how it is on the upper east side of the state, but down here in the gorge we pay $20.00 for a transfer.

The trigger si an easy fix. I'd be looking into new screws and buffing out the pecker tracks around the screw hole. That stipling will just have to be dealt with. You didn't bid on this right after a long drive in the death car did you? 0 -

I used a FFL with a $20 rate for the last pistol purchase I made with these results: http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=287702. Ok, so none of what happened there was his fault, but three hours drive time and the gas money to the $20 FFL dealer is worth more than the $20 difference between his price and the $40 guy who's close to me.
I might be able to get a $15 rate out of a guy who's 30 minutes from me but he's been on hiatus lately. So I'm expecting to pay $40. Basically, there's one guy around here who does it, so he can command whatever the $%#& price he chooses.0 -

LOL no. But I'm not a rich man and I figured if I could get this one for less than I thought it was worth then I'd take it. I'll get the collector specimen later, when I'm making a little more $$$.

+1 the best gun is one that will be used and enjoyed.... what is the point of buying if you are going to put it in a safe and never shoot it! All of my guns are shooters... no matter what they are worth.. to me they are worth more as shooters. If some people saw the guns I considered as shooters they would lecture me from here to next century. But I believe they were produced to be shot, not horded and put in a safe!0 -

True for me, too. But I still have a sense of what is a collectible arm. And I like to have those to shoot, very much. I can't imagine keeping anything in NIB condition, ever. If I have it, I will shoot it if there's any way I can make that happen.0 -

To me a good deal is in the eye of the beholder. I wouldn't pay $500 for a nice double barrel shotgun that was actually worth $1,000. I will take a good Mossberg 500 or Remington 870 for $200-$300. That is just me. On the other hand, I bought a Remington 700 a while back for $599. I would have payed up to $750 for it if I had to. You know what I mean?
BTW--I really like the looks of that little pistol. Give us a range report when you get it and get a chance to take it out to the range.[;)]0 -
