Best 9mm hand gun

I was thinking about going and buying an other gun tomorrow, suggestions?? SIG 229 or 226??

    carried a 229 in the desert and own one back home. it will do anything its big brother will do.

    Of the two you mentioned, I like the 229. The 228 is no more, there being no need for it since the 229 is offered in 9mm and they are otherwise very similar.

    Why 9mm? With the 9mm, you are stuck with 9mm forever. Get a .40 or a .357 and you can have the other caliber just by changing barrels.

    The only way I would buy a gun that big in 9mm would be if I had an undending supply of free 9mm ammo.

    G17,19,26....Kahr CW9.......Kel-Tec PF9....Ruger SR9....Bersa Ultra compact 9mm.....Alota 9's on the market.

    The best of the Sigs, and certainly the best of all 9MMs, is of course, the Browning High Power.

    I like the older Rugers; have a P-85 that will get the job done.

    For knockdown, it's hard to beat the 45's.

    huh, mine DIDN'T get the job done...lots of FTF.

    The factory reconditioned SIGs are reasonable with a warranty too.

    You can still find P228s. The P229's slide is thicker, being made from a solid billet of steel, and makes the gun thick and top heavy compared to the P228. I have an old P228 and a new P229 and I always carry the P228. If just rides much nicer on the belt. As for the 9mm/40/357 sig debate there is not really much difference in real world performance and 9mm ammo is cheaper and you have a great variety of ammo loads to chose from, from light fast stuff like 88 or 90 grain to heavy grain 147 and really cheap bulk paper punching ammo. I personally carry the tried and true Federal 115 grain 9BPLE for social uses.

    ifin you ain't shootin a SIG,..your best chance is second place[:p] There may be cheaper guns,..they may even be close,..but "better" than a SIG,....yeah right,..bwahahahahaha[;)]

    Cowboy up and buy a real pistol,..they are easy to recognize when you see one,...they always say SIG on the slide[^]

    I LOVE the P226 and the P220,...truley exceptional firearms.

    I've shot them all or at least most of them and hands down nothing beats a Sig. I have two 239's in .357 Sig and 9mm ... Never ever had a failure to fire or feed no matter what ammo I've run thru them.

    With the exception of the HK we have owned all the above. Except for the Ruger, we still do. Berreta 92 is my favorite, Glock 19 for my wife.

    I'm not much into 9's but I've got a few ... my favorite is the Steyr GB

    Next favorite is the Beretta Inox

    But to just throw in the glove box and go plinking ... Steyr M9 or Glock 19
