No it's not what y'all might think, least not quite.
Spinone rescue has listed a four year old male in east Iowa and if next weekend agrees with the breeders schedule, we'll be making a road trip.
We certainly hope that we meet with the breeders approval. The issues he has seem minor to me and may have stemmed from the lack of attention and proper exercise he has not received.

I don't know if you have done this before but you could be looking at quite a bit of work at a 4 Y.O. I raised Bull Mastiff's for about 25 years. They were my best friends. I offer thanks to you and anyone who rescues dogs. This won't be easy but somewhere in that dog is about 6 years of love. Go for it! 0 -

Yeah Jeff, it's going to be a slow go but I don't believe in pushing training at any age. According to the breeder Rosso was very birdy as a pup, even pointing by eight weeks when the family picked him up. I think with some patience and consistency, he and Lenny ought to be working quail and roosters by next season. That'd be a sight to watch. At least he'll be put to the job he was bred for.[8D]0 -
givette. Your not at all off the mark, and no, Rosso is not emaciated, he simply appears that way due to camera angle. I do thank you for your concern about his health, fortunately he hasn't been negleted to that degree.
Breeders approval is actually something I believe all dogs, hell any companion animal for that matter, would benefit from. For now we'll just focus on dogs.
First lets consider the sheer number of dogs in the United States alone. Now look at the percentage of them in shelters and pounds waiting for someone with good hearts to give them a fit home when in reality they are unknowingly waiting to die. If you will now take a look around your neighborhood and comunity at the number of dogs left out in the backyards with nothing more than a ten or so foot chain and maybe a dog house which may or may not leak when it rains. OK, of all those dogs, how many are abused and or severely neglected?
What a breeders screening is, is a serious attempt at keeping thier puppies and dogs from suffering abusive, neglected lives, or much worse. If you want to see something truely shocking google Puppy Mill, THAT is a breeders worst nightmare.
You would likely shyte your pants if you'd seen some of the contracts that I have eagerly signed after beeing screened for a placement.
You see, there are breeders who will sell to just anybody with the right amount of money, and a sizeable portion of those dogs go to resposible people who will take proper care of them. But there are the ones which are abused and neglected. Though a breeders screening doesn't totaly eliminate this, it sharply curtails it.
Now for those about to flame me for my purebred preference, most of my dogs have had a specific secondary task. Secondary because they are first and foremost a member of my family. Those which didn't have a specific task were pound puppies. I have been, and always will be, a staunch supporter of the Pound Puppy. If you don't have a specific need for certain traights and natural abilities, Please give a pound puppy another chance at a comfortable life.
givette, I don't recall whether I've posted a pic of Lenny or not but Rosso will have a build like Lenny, Not at all skinny, just trim as he should be. Granted, Lenny is going to be a bit bigger but he's large for the breed.

If by "recall" you mean somehow C&P the post in it's entirety, no. I'm rather computer illiterate. Off the top of my head I can do.
You had voiced a strong concern that Rosso looked emaciated in the picture. And again, Thank You for your concern for his welfare.
You also voiced quite some bit of dismay at why someone should Need to meet with a breeders approval before the breeder would place a puppy or dog with them.0 -
