It must have been the meds!

I skipped the pain meds last night, and had no stamach problems last nigth or this morning. That must have been it. In fact, I couldn't tell much difference between taking them and not taking them as far as the rib discomfort, so I'll just flush them down the tolit and call it good.

Thanks FrankF, you got me going on the right track when you helped me put it all together. I would have never thought the meds were tearing my stomach up like that!

    I had a similar experience when I had my wisdom teeth removed. The hydrocodone gave me a bad stomach ache. Pitched most of a bottle in the trash. Only later did I find out I could have sold them for a profit. Heck, I could have sold them to Rush Limbaugh! [:D]

    I put them away for those just in case times were I might need them.

    But most of you know how bad my body is tore up and I have the need to keep some on hand.

    I broke a couple ribs two years ago and the pain meds didn't seem to do anything for me either.

    I hurt all the time and get just about all the hydrocodone I want. They only seem to work alittle in relieving pain.

    Been reading this latest bout you have been experiencing. Not been able to respond calmly.
    Sometimes the rage I feel about things such as drunks that get smashed 3 days a week and live to be 80..scum-bag trash that never did a decent thing in their entire lives that seem to live forever...

    And the decent people that toil on, suffering immeasurably, and mostly quietly..it just isn't right, seems like. More and more, I think the Devil rewards his disciples ..and strikes down those that reject him.

    I went through the same medication issues you've experienced when I busted a couple of ribs.

    The doc sent me home from the ER with Tylenol #3's and I ended up going a couple of days with no sleep due to the pain. I went to my personal physician and he bumped me up to Darvocet, but still no relief from the pain other than numbing it slightly. By then I was also experiencing those nodding off/crankiness side effects you describe.

    When I layed this out to the doc he gave me a small supply of Percodan. It worked very well at knocking out the pain, without the nodding off, bitchiness or fuzzy thought processes. In short, I was finally able to get on with my life.

    Tell your doctor the issues you're having and see if he'll prescribe you a few Percodan or Percocet (same active ingredient, one just contains aspirin and the other has Tylenol). Due to it's popularity with the junkies they don't like to hand out a bunch at a time, but it's not as if you'll need it long term.

    you were taking darvcet right?

    darvocet isnt a very strong narcotic analgesic. if it didnt work for you, you should talk to your doc about increasing your analgesia. vicodin and percocet are much better choices for acute pain management.

    I was on morphine, delauduim, no the spelling not right.
    But my guts stayed tied in a knot.
    they finally put me on pain patches, I still get sick,
    but its easier on my gut.

    Dan, i feel for ya.
    what is left of my body is in pain most of the time, had standing prescription for morphine and couple others for years and had nothing but either stomache problems or my mind wandering when it shouldnt have been to live a life.
    stopped all of them a couple years ago cause the pain isnt as distratcing as all the other crap

    I didn't even think about you being on pain meds. They can definitely cause stomach bleeding.

    Morphine is my drug of choice. Ask for it by name. I've had it twice in my life and thoroughly enjoyed it both times.

    Bert, I can't blame this one on him. I felt the ladder slip a little, and rather than do the right thing by getting down and moving it over, I tried to get away with just a little more streach and lean and over I went. This one was all on me.

    I can now stand the pain (as long as I don't cough) and was able to sleep last night without the medication, so I just threw them down the tolit. I don't like anything that I can't think clearly on, or alters my state. I like being the SOB that comes naturally![}:)][:D][^]

    I have Oxycodone and Hydrocodone sitting here. The one that leaves me feel not to bad is the Oxycodone cause it does not have the tylenol in it.

    But its about time to stop taking any and just tough it out. But my back is flat killing me most of the time. Need to see them about changing the meds.

    Ive got a dcs implant with wires that run down my back.
    Its been replaced 3 times, and the wires have had to be
    replaced twice. But it does not kill the pain, by itself.
    the pain killer I am on now is called FENTANYL TRANSDERMAL
    I started out on 25 UGH, now I am up to 175 UGH.
    I started out with an assortment of pain killers.
    But because of problems with eating and sleeping
    they have had to change them out over the years.
    Pain is a funny thing, if doctors felt what we go
    through, we would have the best pain killers that are
    out there.

    The Gubn'nt would prefer is you would dispose the meds in a manner that will
    not re-introduce them to the water cycle.

    Seems some fish were getting too much happy-pill in their diet.

    you have pretty much the best analgesic out there. IMHO, it doesnt get any better than fentanyl. of course, iv is more effective than transdermal but its still doing its job.

    I started out one one small patch, now I wear
    two, a 100 and 75 ugh, I get nausea the day after
    I put them on, if I forget to put a new one on before
    the old one wears off, its bad
    sweats, shakes, hot, cold, it gets bad

    i believe it. at the doses you taking, you must be in some serious pain. any gap in coverage will be difficult.

    for those unfamiliar with it, fentanyl is a synthetic opiod roughly 100 times more powerful than MSo4(morphine)

    I just picked-up my 180 30Mg. Roxicodone tabs today. I only take 3 a day,and "bank-up" the rest for EMERGENCIES.
    Who needs a few?
