Wall mounting a pistol

I was going to hang a couple of pistols on my office wall (1911's), I was in a guys office that had a couple mounted and it looked cool, and very easy to get to. Any suggestions on best way to mount for looks and easy removal?

    Decap a couple of .38 cartridges and using long small screws of appropriate diameter, screw them into the wall in places that would balance your 1911 in position you want to display it. [:)][:)]

    Good idea Rider, but i think i'd go with "06" or .308's, myself. Don't want them to fall...[B)]

    Go to the hardware or sporting goods store and buy a 6 pack of "sportsman knobs", They come with brass colored nails long enough to nail them in to the wall, I've got all my pistols, long guns hanging on them. They are kind of fancy looking. I've also cut about 3/4" wood dowels about the same length, stained, drilled them and used them, same thing as the sportsman knobs and cheaper.

    I buy wooden pegs that are used for coat racks etc from Lowes and mount them in plywood covered in carpet or some kind of fabric.

    I think you should be cautious. One of my friends had 12 nice guns on the wall. Visible thru the window,

    I take a spent 45/70 shell and fill the shell with hot glue from a glue gun and then insert a long drywall screw into the shell.Wait to cool and hang gun.. 8185u1k.jpg

    I like a shadowbox. If you want quick access you could hinge the front.
