Is Wolf Ammo?
Very accurate in .223? Had a friend who's thinking of buying some bulk Wolf ammo for varmit hunting. He ask me if it was accurate in a Bolt action and I had no idea I only shoot 7.62x39 in my AK's?

Do the Russian's and other Foreign Nations who use th AK-47 use Wolf ammo? Or do they use brass cases on their Military ammo? 0 -

shot 45ACP and 380ACP accuracy was about as good as the run-of-the-mill cheap winhester and remington ammo 0 -

It all depends on when it was made. If you get the steel case stuff that is the same color as their AK stuff you will probably have problems with a laquer build up in the chamber, especially if your tube gets a little warm from 'high volume' shooting. DPMS went so far as to tell customers their warranties would be void if they used the stuff. Wolf re-formulated their coating and it now appears to be a grayish charcol color and is not supposed to break down under heat exposure, while the jury may still be out on that, I confess to letting my sweetie burn the stuff up in her AR, and by golly gee whiz if don't function pretty damn smooth and I've noticed no build up in the chamber. If you do get some build up from the old stuff some regular 'gun-scrubber' type chemical cleaner dissolves in a few seconds and it wipes right out, just don't push it thru the bore, unless you're going to fill the tube with chemical (say for copper removal) also. Their 55gr. boattail stuff is surprizingly accurate at intermediate ranges (200-400). The Russian Wolf ammo still seems to be a little dirtier to clean-up compared to 'western' manufactureres. However the Serbian made Wolf ammo I've used (in 7mm.Rem.Mag.) also w/boattail, is as good as any American made match stuff I've used. My 700-1000 meter groups just blew me away. I had kind of resigned myself to having a 500 meter rifle until I ran some of that stuff thru it, quick got to a computer and ordered another 500rds. of the stuff (brass cases too!) and at their prices I think I should increase the size of my stash! Nothing wrong with the stuff, just be prepared to do a little extra work with the bore brush and use a few more patches. Hint: a real light coating (only a drop or two) of CLP down the tube before shooting will go a long way in speeding up the cleansing. 0 -
