Or, you could just vote for Obamma and McCain won't win. 0 -
McSwine won't win anyway. You can't win without your base. For those who don't know, the base of the republican party is the conservative one. The liberal base plays for the other team. 0 -

Yep...I got an email from them this morning.0 -
...I'm tired of voting for a canidate that does not fall into agreement with ME, 100%.
...I'm tired of what freedoms I have left.
...I'm tired of not paying for Joe Schmuck's health insurance.
...I'm tired of "not enough" entitlement programs.
...I'm tired of only "30%+" taxes.
...I'm tired of all my guns.
...I'm tired of "not enough" knee-jerk, to hell with the consequences, feel good laws.
...I'm voting Democrat...THAT, will show the Republicans!...[;)]

This is about getting a new Republican Candidate...one that true conservatives can vote for...not about voting for a Dem.0 -
...Eric, I know that. McCain is not my first choice either...nor was anyone we have/had a choice of on the conservitive side; but mathematicaly and logically, he will be our nominee. Mathematicaly it is all but impossible for Huck-A-Billy to do anything but stretch this thing out, and Ron Milk Toast Paul, well, he's never been in it as far as deligates. All of Huck-A-Billies and Ron Milk Toast Paul supporters, and me for that matter...can "wish and dream" all they want about their canidate, but it ain't gonna happen for them or me. Time for a serious reality check. AS Romney said, "If it was just about me, but it isn't, it's about my country....."...those were some timely words my friend.
...McCain is FAR from who I'd like to see run but, with McCain there is still a lot of possibly good "maybe's"...with ANY lib, there are NO good maybe's...we KNOW what they will do to America; and that, is unacceptable to me. I love America more than I cherish my life, as my close friends know.
...Besides choosing a nominee someone really likes, in agreement a big percent wise; the big picture is National electability. Of the three canidates standing, some on their knees or belly..McCain has the biggest name recognition and the most likely chance at defeating the libs nominee, like it or not...this, as some of the more astute realize is NOT about "my guy!"; and God knows Im not nor claim to be too politically savy.
...I also know that this late in the game (tick TOCK) that if the Repubs do not get it together and start to hammer on the major differences between the libs and conservitives...instead of the conservitive benchmarks McCain does NOT meet; we will still be sniveling (not at you Eric) about McCain as a lib gets sworn into office next January.
...Osama Insane Hussein Obama AND Shrill-Ary have BOTH laid out their "plans" for America. Manditory health care, the BIGGEST tax increase in this countries history, 60 dyas or less to start pulling troops from Iraq...and we can only have nightmares about what else they have in mind. All of us gun-nuts KNOW what Clintoon did with gun laws...think 'Ol Big Ears voted "most liberal Senator" (and he hasn't been a Senator TWO YEARS YET!!!) or the Shrew Shrill-Ary would not embrace/innitiate EVERY law that would enable them to destroy the 2nd..along with many other "unmentionable" God awful laws?
...We vote in the general in 9 short months...NOT long to start chipping into a lib movement made up of a lot of young un-informed voters that have never lived as a "thinking" adult under a lib President; they don't know any better. VERY hard to deflate the enthusiasim of an un-informed voter.
...It's 99.9999% impossible to alter the thought process of whacked out libs that are informed, much less of those that think it's "cool" to vote lib; and THAT, is why their voting lib..Shrill-Ary.. "first woman President...cool"...'Ol Big Ears.."first black President...cool!!! That illogical, uninformed thought cannot, will not be changed.
...Yesterday would not have been too soon to start to throw everthing including the kitchen sink at the libs agenda!
...We have an advantage if we fall in and join to defeat the libs now, as they are NOWHERE close to deciding on their nominee!! Catch them while their argueing back and forth between themselves to get a leg up, so to speak! Hell, with the way they themselves changed the way they allocate electoral votes (he-he..heard several BIG dims say thay regret that they DID that, surprise! Dims always pass feel-good poop w/o thinking of the consequences...this time it's bit them in the azz!:) they could be several months in nominating 'Ol Big Ears or Shrill-Ary...OR, it could go to a brokered convention. Either way, it's "deadtime" for them...and time to make hay for us! ONLY, if we take advantage of it though...[;)]

quote:there is still a lot of possibly good "maybe's"...
Seems to me there is only one "maybe" that someone settling for McSwine can hope for.....Maybe he won't do what he used to when he was a liberal democrat with an "R".
quote:as a lib gets sworn into office next January.
If McSwine did win, which he won't, you'd have your lib you're so worried about. Too bad though, you can't win without the base. And McSwines base plays for and is obligated to the ones with guts to put that "D" after their name.
So, you got billions more in entitlement promises from those two "D" nitwits. And you got the promise of 100 more years in Iraq at a cost presently of 1 trillion a year. We can't affords either, but Joe American has been corrupted into thinking we can, somehow. I could get into more detail but it's pointless. We had a chance to right the ship. It would have required sacrifice[:0], but Hannity snickered at him so it embarassed the sheep. Well, the ship is going down for sure, the sacrifice is coming only it will be worse than the voluntary version, and the sheep will have themselves to thank.[:D] The people of this country have sold themselves out, allowed themselves to be bought off with their own money, and are so utterly stupid, that we derserve what we get. Me included. Prepare for the NAU and national ID chip. Just the kind of government sheep need.0 -

Eric, in a logical sense, voting for a dem is exactly what it's about.[:D]0 -

It does look more and more as if Huckabee will be the VP to help appease the conservative side of the party. Don't forget that McCain is 71! Most folks here the other day were saying that he is too OLD to be president! Makes you, as a voter, take a second look at Huckabee, even for VP.0 -
...wolfie quote:seems to me there is only one "maybe" that someone settling for McSwine can hope for....Maybe he won't do what he used to when he was a liberal democrat with an "R".
...Well, that "one" maybe is one more than we will get with a lib.
..."Settling" on McCain(?)...he will, be the nominee...and as I stated he sure as hell is NOT my first choice. Wish in one hand and poop in the other that he wasn't, and see if you don't end up with a dirty hand.
quote:If McSwine did win, which he won't, you'd have your lib you're so worried about.
...Oh please of great soothsayer, just who will win?...please share that, with us mere mortals. IF, you know who will win...your passing up a chance at some major $$$$$ working for either campaign. Worried about IF a dim might win, yeah, I sure am, as are most all who are grounded in reality at the horrible chance of ending up with a dim in office.
...Some of the people here, though not dims (well, maybe "dim") have not lived their adult life under a dim, they just know. Let a dim be elected, hold your wallet, a lot here can kiss their jobs goodbye when their "feel good" regulations, increase in business taxes, take effect..usually a couple of years after election; and usually the construction sector is dessimated, I know. Hold your guns even closer than your wallet.
quote:Well, the ship is going down for sure, the sacrifice is coming only it will be worse than the voluntary version, and the sheep will have themselves to thank. The people of this country have sold themselves out, allowed themselves to be bought off with their own money, and are so utterly stupid, that we derserve what we get.
...Wolfie, I imgaine this statement was made, has been made beginning when 'Ol George ran...don't be so positive [:D] You, as I, are not unique in our "not too damn pleased" with the selection of canidates on our side; I'm sure these same frustrations were debated in parlors, and when the evening was over, the participants climbed into their buggies and on their horses and rode home.
...Point is, McCain is 99.999% going to be IT. We as Repubs can snivel all we want, a waste of time and energy. Or we can focus that frustration in positive energy to defeat a formidable enemy...again, we are confronted with a choice. Snivel and whine and "oh me", or get on the stick to win in November, I choose to attempt to win...[;)]

Colt...I cannot vote for McCain...to do so would be to give the Republican party my rubber stamp of approval for their continued move to the left. It is time that they heard from their base in a serious way. McCain is going to do almost everything a liberal would do in office...so if we are stuck between him and a Dem, I'd rather have a Dem screw things all to hell...and have to take the credit for it...and in the mean time send a powerful message to the GOP. If we are unable to derail McCain (which I hope we can do through the site listed in this thread), I will be writing in Mickey Mouse. 0 -
McCain can be shut out, if Paul or Huck keep getting his votes.
Then he cannot get enough delegates to reach 1191, to get a 51%
majority. It will be a brokered convention and anthing goes.
If McCain keeps loosing to somebody in the caucuses it's sending
a message to the GOP we don't like him, we don't want him.
BUSH endorsed him today, lets hope that was a kiss of death,
he isn't too popular these days. McCain will not get the independant
vote. There are a lot of undecided delegates up for grabs.0 -
mouse, though I was not a Romney supporter, he tool 60% of the presidential preference poll in CO. That a pretty strong statement from us about McSwine at least.[:D]
quote:Oh please of great soothsayer, just who will win?
Whoever the Dems select. And I explained why.0 -
I can't vote for anyone the Democrats are fielding and I decided, some time back, that I'm done voting for the lesser of two evils. I'm 45, have been voting since I was 18, and in any election of national significance in those almost thirty years I've left the booth feeling like I'd voted for whom I was told to, had settled, or both.
Screw it. If it's a choice between continued gradual erosion of our rights, and I don't just mean gun rights, and the distinct possibility that Clinton or Obama will take being elected as a mandate and go right for our throats -- I'll take the up-front attack and the chance that, for better or worse, my nieces and nephews and their kids won't be left with the same fight on their hands and less ground on which to make a stand. I won't write in Mickey Mouse. I will write in the candidate that, at the end of the day, I've decided I believe in.
Who? Ain't saying. I didn't post this to start a fight or express an opinion that I expect everyone else to share. This is what I'm going to do, and means nothing more than that. The rest of you can do as you like, for whom you like, and I hope to God enough of you, or us, manage to get it right.0 -
What a post! Thanks mongrel, for sharing what principles are in a unique way! 0 -

Others' principles might dictate that they vote the lesser of two evils and hope/try for the best. They may be right. I'm too old to be all afire about this decision of mine -- all I know is, like I said, after nearly thirty years of trying to do what's right and best, I'm not sure I ever accomplished that. God knows, I've got about a 75% win record on candidates I picked, and the country isn't in anything remotely like better shape than it was when I started. The suspicion that I haven't made much of a positive difference makes it a lot easier to do what I think is right instead of what I think has the best chance of succeeding.
I should simply say thank you for the pat on the back, and not sound so grim. "Grim" just feels realistic, at the moment.
I think I need to click onto another thread and look at some semi-naked women -- another exercise in frustration, but somehow much more pleasant [:D].0 -
There's a semi naked women over in politics; under sex for Ron Paul. 0 -
FWIW -- I've never weighed in on this issue of moving every political discussion to the Political forum. Well, I agree with those who say the Presidential campaign is an issue of general importance, and that no one has to click on a political topic -- or stay with it if they once do. We are all free and reasonably (well, marginally) sane adults. I ignore all sorts of topics on this forum. Do likewise and be not offended.
Thank you. I have spoken. Carry on.0 -

That afears me as not even Hillary Clinton with Janet Reno as her running mate could do.0 -

I know this feeling quite well. And I have come to the same exact conclusion as you for the exact same reasons. "I do what I think is right (lesser of two evils) country goes down toilet....." I'm tired of the poop they feed us and from this point forward I refuse to eat poop ever again. I'm afraid it's too late though. I have also been voting since 18, 20 years it took me to figure this out. But I probably wouldn't have if a particular candidate hadn't showed me that there actually truly are folks out there that you can vote "FOR". Amazing!0 -
As for me, I am desperately tired of people telling me to `get on board' to elect whatever garbage they are pushing this week.
I have no desire at all to ride on the garbage scow they are fond of cruising on this cycle.
No..for me, the action to take is to give them what they desire..the REAL deal.not a lying sack of snit.0
