Oh come on Doug, The XB-70 was far ahead of it's time, it was an air craft so advanced that the technology of the day could not support it, it's only real problem was a habit of eating F-104's.

I wasn't putting the '70 down - only saying that it never got to production, or operational status.
It was a kick-ass bird, and the technology formed the basis of our SST development. Too bad we chickened out on both programs.
