Hi-Point Carbines, owners personal opinions??

I'd like to know what you guys think. I, personally have never handled one, but I think that it would be an ok gun once you put the ATI stock on it. please let me know if it is worth the 200 bucks I could get one of these for.

    I used to subscribe to Gun tests magazines which is not influenced by advertising dollars unlike the rest of the gun rags.

    Gun tests put the Hi-Point 9mm carbine up against the Ruger 9mm carbine and Hi-Point won in all areas (reliability, accuracy, trigger pull, etc.). I've never met someone who owned one and didn't absolutely LOVE it. It feels like a cheap toy in your hands but, from what I've read and what I've been told by owners, it performs.

    The gun shop owner I do most of my buisness with had a demo when they first came out....you bought the ammo and you shot the crap out of it. We had a documented 5,000+ rds through it before it broke. The ejector broke and a spring snapped, both easy and cheap fixes. Fixed it and shot the crap out of some more. He finally sold it for $50 with more than 7500 rds through it. These guns are almost indestructable.

    I own one and have the ATI stock on it.
    It's a great little rifle. It comes with a lifetime no questions asked warranty. I had oly one problem with mine and that was the magazine. The mag spring broke so I sent the mag back and they sent me two new mag's.

    Well-built, extremely over-engineered, hate the clamshell stock, ugly as 11 miles of muddy dirt road in March, very accurate for its' caliber, lightweight, negligible recoil, handles like a Mattel toy, only holds 10 rounds(aftermarket mags unreliable), peep rear with post front aids target acquisition, the extractor is a beefy triple piece of metal, used by Torrance Co.(and others) as patrol carbine, shoots any nose profile bullets, decent medium range shooter(1-200yds),very affordable.

    I have a 40 S$W and I have had no problems. It is ugly as a mud fence, but goes bang every time.

    I took one in trade a few years ago.I think I had less than 50 bucks in it.I took it apart to see how it was made and it was all plastic and pot metal but like everyone else said it shot every time,any ammo and was pretty accurate.I sold it and made about a hundred dollars on it but I would buy another one if the chance arises.

    Good value for the money. Not great- but goes bang everytime and is accurate enough to get the job done in an urban environment if need be. Just my opinion.
