    What is the most accurate long distance gun and caliber using a scope?
    I'm not interested in what make or model of optics, just gun and caliber. Just pretend you can have the best scope on the market.
    I think the Springfield M1A in 308 would be my choice, but I would like to hear from all others on this board.
    Also thinking of Remington 700ADL. Can the two be compared at all?

    The scenario would be you are holding your own and want to pick off as many as possible before switching to your short range guns, such as a Shotgun, 30-30 or a handgun.

    I think the Stevens .410 bolt action shotguns are often overlooked, yet are great guns.

    Well just live until we have used up all of our natural resources, then we will sowly die out, just like the cavemen before us, and the dinosaurs before them. It seems to me to be a pattern, everyone has their run, then either something catastrophic happens, or they ruin it themselves, and then they all die out, and the earth finally has a chance to rebuild itself, then a new breed of creatures will come along.

    Big space-rock hits earth, climate changes and we die out. 1 million years later the dust clears, sun shines, plants grow, something scurries out from under a rock and the whole process repeats itself again. We are nothing more than passengers on this planet along for the ride.

    If anyone is interested, look up and read about the Carter Catastrophe. Its too long for me to get into here, but its a mathematical model that gives a life expectancy for the human race, within 95% certainty.
