Coyote Calling

Deer season is over and I'm having hunting withdrawl.[:(] Thinking about trying to call coyotes and control the population while taking care of the withdrawls. Which is the best method this time of year. I've heard they are mating this time of year, I hear them yelping and howling alot this time of year. A nice 50 grain pill from the .222 should dispatch them nicely I would assume. Sorry about using space for a gun or hunting topic.[:D]

    I'm having luck using a female locator howl.

    It has been snowing here and they are looking for the easy meal, so a cotton tail has been working if I don't get too aggressive.

    The kitten in distress is working well around old barns and 1/4 mile from residences.

    I have also been having luck with a woodpecker call.

    Just my results and they may not be the same as others.

    Also, I have been using my .221 fireball and Benelli for most of my calling. I only use my 22-250 one place because it is wide open.

    I am calling in SC Ks.

    try lost turkey call (hen) get weaker and weaker as the hunt goes on.

    rabbit in distress will work also, dont over call.

    Polaris and Arctic cat have been working well for a couple of my buddies, last count they have killed over 40 in the last 10 days or so, the snow on the high desert is the best it's been in years for dogging with snowbuggies.

    What do you mean ? They are running them down with snow-machines ? or shooting them from the snow-machines ?

    I use a diaphragm and can howl or do a pup in distress. Start withe the howl and then move to the pup in distress. Just make it sound like a yipping pup, making sort of a strong huffy "hi" sound.
    hi hi hi hi hi for about a minute and the more mournful the better. couple of howls thrown in for good measure doest hurt. REMEMBER...educate em and they'll never be back so make the shot count happy hunting
