I guy trying to pull a scam on me

I have a holly carb for sale, the guy has emailed me.
told him what it was, how much I want for it.
today I get a cashiers check in the mail.
for a large sum he told me to send him the change in a cashiers
check. first off I know its a scam.
1. why would a guy send me $3000. for a carb.
2. why send a big check when I would have to send another check to him.
so I know its a scam, But is there anyway to find out if this check is either stole or fraud online?

oh yea the guy is fron norway, but the check is drawn on a bank in Chicago, but it arrived airmail from norway? strange I know

    Those checks are fun to collect. A friend of mine replies to ALL these idiot scammers. He has a great time with them, and is on 419eater.com. He has over $1.5 MILLION in these fake checks. :( Most of the checks are REAL CHECKS, just printed with fake info.

    A friend of mine sold a dress on e-bay and got one of those checks. It is VERY fake.....guaranteed. You can take it to your bank and tell them to check it out if you want OR you can do what I would and send a photocopy of your but to the return address.

    Those are funny! My friend got one trying to rent his house on Craig's list. The potential renter sent a cashiers check for $2500 more than the rent ahead of when he was supposed to arrive and asked my friend to send the rest to another address for the furniture. We just laughed it off.

    One of my Tenants got hooked on one of these same schemes. I go to collect rent and he has all the paperwork from law enforcement. Guy mailed him a 4k dollar check to return the money on a 50 dollar ebay sale. He mailed the difference cause the check sendee said keep an extra 100 bucks for helping him out.... This Tenant was in his 40's and got caught by an idiotic scheme.

    away, wxcwpt for the 5 that were sent to me as postal money orders.

    I turned them over to the post peoples.[:D]

    I already told him once the check clears I will sent the carb out.
    He got very upset, telling me it was a cashiers check, there no reason to hold it. I told him if he wants the check back, he hung up the phone. gotcha. I love it when it backfires on them.

    My work partner got a $55,000 check for a street rod he was selling. Man, it LOOKED real enough. He figured something was weird and checked it out. The bank didn't even exist! He has the check framed in his shop.

    was to buy a scope of off a forummember - so had my bank issue an international bank cheque as per his request.

    Seems as though the podunk midget bank in Kentucky don't like foreign checks, especially when the numbers aren't placed in exactly the same way as they are "overthere".


    So a good deal fell through...

    LF. Nunn, & Rosie: To be accommadating to all, I will gladly come over to AL and take all necessary photos of the butt in question for nothing!! In order to proper identify myself, I will bring the Eddystone rifle I bought from you, The one with the BIG CRACK in the stock. It would probably not be in the best interests of all to be passing checks around. hey, cash works for me. Tom

    Unbelievable, select-fire. You have a registered dumb ass for a tenant. I hope he is smart enough to pay the rent on time.
