My cousin has one he wants to sell me. He used it extensively one summer as he built a pole barn and hasn't used it much in the last two years.
$500.
Kind of squimish on a diesel small engine. I know some, like a Lester, can be bulletproof, and diesel isn't going to go stale, like gasoline.
Having a generator would be nice if the power goes out in the winter.
We live on the end of a rinky-dink line from a POS Cornbelt Cooperative. While it hasn't happened, the potential is high. Having an option for heat in winter and power to run the sump pump in the spring would be nice in case of an emergency, but diesel???

my buddy is a electrician and he wired his house so he could plug in the little honda he has just in case the power went out. and the power did go out a couple of times and he was the only one with power,hot water,big screen tv. 0 -
I have the gas 8000 model. Bought it off the side of the road after hurricane Rita when it was expected to take weeks to get power restored. Got gas the next day, and it worked great for 3 days until the power was actually restored (worked out pretty nice living between the power station and the hospital that was the first priority in the entire area).
Anyway, it worked great for those few days. It ran the TV, satellite receiver and a fan for the LSU-Tenessee game just fine. All the rest of the time it ran 2 refrigerators and 2 freezers. 8000 is really overkill so we never really put a load on it.0 -
DIesel can grow alage. But if treated and stored in a full tank it will last a long time. The china diesels are OK as long as the fuel is CLEAN they tend to run forever. The injector is the most sensitive part. It will not take water or dirt and keep running. If you keep the oil fresh and start it every few months putting a good load on the gen you will be fine. Keep in mind the generator part is more sensitive than the motor part. Moisture building up in the windings from lack of use can kill a genset as fast as anything. 0 -

Says it runs at 3750 rpm which in my opinion is way too fast for a diesel.
Should you ever need parts, you'll probably regret ever getting it. Should it never need parts, you'll be happy for getting it.0
