Smoking out a liar.
Recently we've had some problems w/our neighbors dog knocking over our trash bins and scattering trash all over. We know which dog it is because: A. We have seen the dog do it. And B. the dog always drags the trash bags back to his own yard.
Yesterday I left my neighbor a note asking him to come see me about the dog problem.
He comes over all in a huff and insisted it wasn't his dog.
So I told him. "Look, we live in a rural area outside of city limits. People dump dogs out here and there are wild dogs and coyotes also. Once these dogs learn there's free meal in the trash, they WILL be back.
"We don't have any dog catches and therefore we have to take care of these problems ourselves. I'm not going to sit on my porch w/a rifle waiting for a dog to get into my trash. I'm going to poison the trash and I WILL get the culprit."
You never saw such a 180 in your life. He says "But...but my dog climbs the fence! I can't keep him in."
Me: "Not my problem".
Him: "I'll put up an electric fence this weekend."[:D]

Good job -- you should be a police negotiator. You forced him to take responsibility, and he will feel a better man for it. There was a time when you could count on a neighbor to fix a problem before you were aware of it. Too bad times have changed. 0 -

Those electric dog collars work well. I have some friends up in Montana who use them all the time. It keeps his wife from sneakin' into town at night.

There WAS a dog roaming our neighborhood dumping trashcans and strewing garbage all over. Turkey carcass, dusted with 3 oz of cayenne pepper ended that. 0 -
Neighbors cat been over here, paw prints all over wifes car. Wife seen it, I didn't. Set out the have a heart trap and if stupid enough to go for the cat treat, it'll spend tomorrow night at the pound. Hope it ain't a skunk.[:0][:0][:0] 0
