    What is classically called "3rd" shift is actually the leading shift or 1st shift where I work. But to answer your question, yes I'm still up. Hopefully not for long.

    im up and waiting on my relef [:(!] should have been here 10 min ago [:(!] going home and waling my 12 yr old up and were going to get her 1st deer this morning [:p][:D] youth weekend and she can take a doe if she wants [:D]

    Got off a night shift Back in July was on nights for 9 months I got 2 days to adjust my sleeping habits and get back on a day routine that was hell

    I was used to getting home around 6:30am and 2 days later I had to be at work at 7:00am I made it on time but it really took a month to get used to again

    3rd shift, 4 nights 10 hours +
    Friday,Saturday,Sundays off.
    Got to sleep about 5am, just woke up.
    Took the 9 year old squirrel hunting in the snow yesterday after school closed early. Wore me out not getting the day of sleep in. Napped late in the evening and that throws the whole sleep schedule out of whack.

    I've been doing 3rd shift over 30 years on and off and I don't mind it. I can sleep on the weekends like normal and then switch to sleeping days when I work.

    I worked rotating shifts, one week at a time on each shift for 37 years. I was lucky in that I could sleep anytime. After that I worked 12-8 for seven years, Monday to Friday. I never really minded working shifts, I could spend the day time hunting or farming. The thing that is the worst is you miss a lot of kid stuff scheduled during the evenings.

    I never missed the kid stuff because I never had kids, ( maybe that is why? ), but now on the forth wife and she works swing shift so I see her the same if I worked on days or nights.

    I remember that - except they were called 'shifts' where I worked,
    they were called 'turns'.

    'Lunch' at 2am - out of the shed, in the dark 95? heat and humidity
    of the Philadelphia summer. Getting to watch the sun come up every
    hot and steamy morning.

    I'm thankful it didn't last any longer than it did. Never have missed a
    minute of it.

    I start my shift at 11:20pm with fireworks every night and lunch is at 3:00 am with a breakfast break at 5:00am and I'm off at 7:00. When I get home at 8:30 I have supper and then off to bed by 10:00pm.

    Worked mid-nights for 20+ years. Loved it. I was able to do a good bit of reloading (portable press), some gun cleaning etc., lots of reading. Of course, all this depended if it was a quiet night with nothing going on. This Sept. makes 10 years since I retired. I still can't get anything done.[;)]
