    Oh Jesus H Christ!!!

Another bleeding heart liberal and he even mentioned the P-I paper in his article.

What the hell did he expect to see in abundance at Cabelas? Legos?

At times I wonder if politicians allow the multiple shootings to happen so they have ammunition to go after firearms.

Guns will always be potentially dangerous and lethal. That is why police and military have and carry them. That is why guns work so well for rapists and armed robbers. That is why they have the potential of working so well when a lawful, peaceful citizens has and uses one to defend themselves or loved ones.

But just because a tiny percentage of the 84 million America gun owners misuse and abuse firearms is no reason to continually tighten the screws on the 84 million innoncent gun owners. Anymore that there is any reason to make it harder, or impossible for me and mine, to own and drive cars just becasuse some people speed, drink and drive, steal cars, use cars in crime, etc.

If you are going to leave American citizens as free as reasonably possible, then we have to accept that some people will abuse their freedoms and thereby cause deaths and injury to innocent people from car accidents, prescription drug overdoses, dangerous household chemicals accidents, people getting beaten or killed with a baseball bat, and on and on.

You can have true freedom or you can attempt to have freedom from serious injury, death or danger from a few idiots misusing their freedom. But you can't have both.

I carried concealed today at B.P.S. Didn't see any signs. Maybe they'll be next.

Whats the problem? The Cabela's near me has had this policy since day one, and its one of the older stores. It does NOT apply to concealed carry, so I don't understand your concern. If I bring a gun to my local shop, for sale trade or repair, they want it uncased with the action locked open before I even walk in the door. Big deal, they're not asking me to check my carry piece.

We are not upset with Cabela hollywood. We are tired of the liberal bleeding heart left wing anti-gun constitution hating groups that think if they can get guns outlawed that this country will become a wonderful utopian society overnight.

Last I saw it was illegal to rob, rape, kill, kidnap, deal drugs and so on. Not a single one of the laws covering those crimes seems to stop criminals. It amazes me that they think by making guns illegal that the murders and rapists and robbers will suddenly change their ways and not use a gun in the commission of their crimes.

God these people piss me off. Sorry for the rant. I just hear this every week from people I work with that think like this.

One thing would have stopped those killings. GUNS at home, UNLOCKED and LOADED. Fight fire with fire.

Well, he does have the author's name at the top, if not the publisher, date and city of publishing. That pretty much counts as attribution, unless you're going by the regulations of the MLA or APA. Enough, though, for an internet forum.

On topic, though, I don't see the problem with checking guns and bows at the greeters desk. It's pretty much the same as the greeter at walmart checking the stuff you've brought back to return. I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with any shooting, and more to do with protecting themselves against people doing something like taking a bow off the shelf and putting it in their bow case.

The Cabelas sign has been there since day one here in Boise. Again it is not directed at CCW holders.

We also have a Sportsman's Warehouse. But I have never seen any sign regarding CCW at either the one in Twin Falls, or Boise.

The author of that C&P (O. Casey Corr) sounds eerily similar to someone who's been saying the same thing around here lately.

What part of this don't you understand??

'DOES NOT APPLY TO CONCEAL/CARRY PERMIT HOLDERS.'

"All firearms & bows that are brought in for repair; service or trade, must be opened & checked in at the Greeter's Desk. This does not apply to conceal/carry permit holders.

I feel the private citizen should be able to have weapons similar to what our normal soldiers in the military have. Otherwise how would we be able to defend against the tyranny of our own government.

When I took a shotgun into Cabelas to trade in, they checked to make sure it was unloaded and put a tag on it. This was so that they knew that it was mine and not one of their guns I pulled off the rack and was trying to sell to them. I don't see any problem with it, actually prefer it, because there are a lot of ignorant muzzle sweeping idiots that I don't want pulling loaded guns out of their cases while I'm there.

Cabela's would be stupid not to do this. It is only to keep people from stealing guns and does not apply to CCW. They don't disable the gun or anything like that.

The alternative would be for them to lock all the display guns up or put them behind counters where I can't fondle them.

    Go Cabela's!

I don't see the problem. At gunshows you have to unload your CC gun too! Cabellas is just following safety procedures that it's insurer insist on. I think it's a good idea too. I know the guys who work the doors checking guns at gunshows and you would be surprised at the many numbnuts that come in with a loaded gun. When the gun checker cycles the action and a live shell pops out you should see how big their eyes get, and then how red their face gets. Remember there is no safety training required to buy a gun.

I don't get the point of this article. If you have a CCW it's perfectly okay to carry. They just don't want folks wandering around the store with guns and bows that they are bringing in to trade or have worked on. It makes sense on two different levels.

    1. You're not walking around the store with something similar to a product that the store sells. I can see where this would be an aid to the loss prevention folks.

    2. There are plenty of IDIOT GUN OWNERS (that's right--I said that) out there and a CCW is a good screening method to keep some of them from being stupid in the store with something potentially dangerous. If you don't like what I said about SOME gun owners then just flip over to YouTube and do some gun/shooting-rleated searches. You'll see morons abound and give the rest of us a bad name. Cabelas has to limit liability. This probably saves them some $$$ on their insurance too. One death from the stupid actions of one of those retards running around with grandpa's shotgun slung over his shoulder with some #7 in the chamber and you'll find Cabelas getting sued for NOT having due diligence to prevent it with such a "check your gun" policy.

Has anyone here ever been searched at Cabelas? I go to the one in Owatonna, MN a couple times a year. I've never been searched. Why not just carry concealed and get over the high-and-mighty attitude. This does not infringe on anyone's 2nd Ammendment rights so the quotation from the Bill of rights is becoming a tired mantra used around every corner. No kidding buddy. We know what it says. Even the people who don't care about your gun rights know what it says. You're turning the quotation from the 2nd Ammendment into populist rhetoric with its unneccesary over-use.

I personally don't buy anything a caballas,as I learnsd they were one of the main lobbyests for the 1995 crime bill.Their intention was to shut down the small home dealers and gun shows,to get rid on any competion in gun sales. This was told to me by an ATF inspector.<1fmj>

Well, like another poster posted, the above is a little raw. But considering what it is in reaction to, I especially have to like the very last sentence.

I don't have a problem with them asking to confirm that weapons brought in for sale, trade, or service are unloaded. I am glad to hear they exclude CCW, which is as it should be. If, on the other hand, they went "gun free zone" I would cease to shop there.

This sounds to me like a safety issue, having nothing to do with the multiple homicide.

    FP,

Yes, perhaps my language was a bit extreme, but I offer no apologies to those who advocate the removal of our Constitutional rights just to assuage their own selfish, petty, and illogical fears.

You are correct: my words don't set a very good example and it would be hypocritical of me to demand of others what I do not practice myself, but in this one circumstance, given the individual and what they advocate, nothing else seemed worthy of them other than the basest and coarsest of language. They don't understand logic or eloquence and so must be treated like the immature and irrational children that they are.

    Besides, I lost my temper.
