Just ordered from Centerfire Systems
I just ordered one of these from Centerfire Systems. Had to call them to find out what caliber it was. It's 303.

Please bear in mind that the .303 cartridge THAT one was designed for is NOT the MILSURP .303 British you will find now. That is a cartridge loaded with cordite or smokeless powder, NOT the black powder that rifle was designed to digest. But should turn some heads just carrying it to the range. 0 -
Yeah be careful with the ammo. If you go around playing ZULU with that with the wrong ammo, you will end up like their hospital. 0 -

Got it in the mail today. Nice condition, lots of cosmoline, arsenal refinish but the front barrel band is missing. The action is stiff and trigger pull must be twenty pounds! probably from all the cold cosmoline inside. The bore was full of some kind of whitish brown granular powder. I have it soaking in bore cleaner now. 0 -
bigtire check the stampings close. I got both of mine today also and stampings do not look correct to me.
Off to the Brit boards to ask experts opinion.0 -

I finally cleaned up the gun and bore. The bore is shot out and the trigger pull is still so stiff as to make the gun unusable. I would say that it is only suitable for a wallhanger.

Could a person load-up a milsurp .303 case with GOEX, or some other BP and fire it thru one of these rifles? I have long wondered about it.. 0 -

If you read some of the other threads from another board posted above, someone suggests that the original cordite 303 British cartridges had a higher pressure spike than today's commercially available ammo.
I'd still be a little wary of shooting it. Although you could load up some light BP or equivalant and probably not be injured too badly.[;)]
BTW, I just got done tearing the gun completely apart and did a little needle file work and polishing on the sear. The trigger pull is now tollerable.0 -
These guns started out as original British military but have obviously been crudely arsenal refinished in someplace like Nepal, Sudan, Egypt or Burma. 0
