7mm-08.......issue....

Scored a 7mm-08 RCBS die and 300 pc of brass for $50.
Issue: How do I tell the wife I need $800 for a rifle and scope to go with my good deal, as I don't have a 7mm-08???
I all ready used the comparison about the good deal she got on them new shoes and had to get the $120. dress to go with them last month when I got some Mustang parts.......Hmmm..... I just may have to wait a bit[:(]

    why 800 when you can get a good'un for4-5

    Whatever you do..regardless how you feel about the caliber..

    Resist the temptation to say 'This will fill in a lot of gaps in my collection"

    Or,
    "This is a really versatile round".

    Such pronouncements, while true of the 7mm-08, will seriously inhibit future negotiations.

    I hadn't really looked for a rifle, but i have been looking at a Nikon Monarch for a while........

    I think I'll just wait for her to buy something and then i can say "thats ok hun. I was looking at getting this....." [:D][}:)]

    Go pick up a Stevens (made by Savage, minus the accu-trigger) for around $270-ish. Spend another $150-200 on the scope, and you will have a great shooter!

    EDIT...If you would like some more brass, give me a holler. I have 4 or 5 boxes of empties sitting around. Mostly Fusion. I don't reload, but I do save the brass.

    Right after Thanksgiving, I saw a XP-100 in 7mm-08 in a pawn shop. Tag said $500.00. This shop is about 50 miles away, so I don't get through there all that much. Well yesterday I went to a small gun show and hit that pawn shop on the way back. Much to my surprise they still have that XP-100. Think I'll wait about two more weeks, and phone down there and offer her $300.00 if she still has it.

    The number of guns I have is simply a topic I never engage in with my wife. If she tries to raise the "guns" question I either change the topic or make comment to the effect that I don't try to influence her interests or purchases. Sometimes it might result in a bit of a snit for a few minutes but it soon passes.

    On the other hand I never abuse it or over indulge. I only ever buy the guns I need.... or want....[;)]

    BTW I love my Model 70 Compact Classic 7mm.08 w/ Leupold VX3 1.5-5
    It's a sweet little shooter.

    Marner...Nice looking rife! I like those Winnie compact 70's. But hey...did you know your sling is missing it's middle? How do you use it like that? [:D][}:)][:D][:o)]

    Just buy a 7mm-08 for her and it will solve your problem. My wife has the Remmington Model 7 (I think thats the model) and she loves it.
