Wife's truck got stolen!!
Can't believe it. She went into Costo in Avondale (just west of Phoenix) and wasn't in there but 30 minutes and came out and it was gone. She had it locked and alarmed but I guess it wasn't a challenge for the thieves that probably only took a minute to get into and drive away. I feel bad for her because it was her baby. It was a fire engine red Dodge 2005 Ram 1500 quad cab short bed with a hemi. Probably in Mexico by now. If it is found it'll probably be out in the middle of the desert tore all to he!! and totaled. Dang thieves!

Too bad. The Maricopa County deputies were probably kicking the crap out of a crazy person in a restroom at the time.

Hey fellas, thanks for the condolences[8D] Actually it was Avondale PD that responded.....1 hour and 15 minutes later!! He was busy taking another stolen vehicle report in the same shopping center. Apparently Avondale PD is undermanned......or is it underPERSONED??!! He told us there are 4 - 5 vehicles stolen from that shopping center a week. It sits at the crossroads of the 101 and the I-10 so the get-away is fast and easy. Boy this irks me!!! 0 -
I've had good luck with my CLUB 2 for the last 12 years and they will give me $2500 if my vehicle is stolen while using it. Sometimes they are pain to use, but after so many years it's like clockwork.

Most likely a inside job, or professional car jacker. Who does your mechanical work? If someone does I would be looking their first.
Personally I know just a little about cars, mines got a kill switch. I used to live a pretty bad part of the burbs in Chicago. Not to worried about it know. The thing of it is...........I am in the process of landing a job inside the 101 loop in AZ[xx(] and relocating.
I guess I could always rig it with a remote detonation device so if it is stolen............well you know the rest[}:)]0 -

Dodge 1500's with the hemi are quite popular with the GTA crowd around Phoenix. I heard somewhere that 12 a day are stolen in the area.0 -

I got one key with my 06' purchase the other day. Went to the hardware store and had another key made. Unlocked the door with the new key and the alarm went off. Shut off the alarm and tried to start the truck with the new key. It fired up and ran 3 seconds and shut off. No chip in the new key and truck is dead. Called Dodge dealer and new computerized key is $135 plus $75 to program it. Must have the truck there also to do it. Sounds like professionals to me. Chop shop has already probably parted your truck out. Insurance time. 0 -
Heard about a lot of vehicle "thefts" were they recovered the vehicles 3-5 miles away with only the catalitic converter missing. Maybe you'll be lucky. 0 -

Talked to my moms cousin last night (he\'s a mechanic here in the Phoenix area) He said that all the thieves have to do is punch the door lock with a screw driver, cut the wires that disable the alarm and they\'re in. Then they again punch the ignitian with the same screw driver and hot wired it and they\'re off. He said a good thief can be in and down the road in about a minute and a half. I like the idea of a hidden kill switch. 0 -

I do too, but chances are slim. Pickups are "hot" items, and it was stolen very close to the border. Lots of our pickups, even as far as we are from Mexico, disappear without a trace. They are usually taken at night, giving the thief several hours of getaway/disposal time before the victim knows it's gone. 0 -
dis it have a remote starter in it? as you know, for vehicles with chipped keys to start, the key has to be no more than a certain distance from the receiver in the ignition area; which is why you need a spare key when you have one put in. the way they used to do it at least, was to zip tie or duct tape(cheap shops) or cable lock the spare out of sight up under the dash. problem that creates is now you've got a key in the car.

He's doing something right, david, because there is a noticable increase in late 1990s model Chevy trucks with Arizona plates showing up in Idaho. They are apparent because they are being driven by white-lipped Mexicans at about 20 MPH on our snow-covered highways. [:D]
I haven't seen any turtles.

I think a large box store with that kind of a problem parking lot has an obligation to have cameras in the parking lot. Usually I don't like the idea, but they have a real problem there and need to be part of the solution.
Me, I drive a '93 Chevy pickup. Anyone steals that, they'd have to stop and put new tires on it to make their getaway. Sorry about your wife's truck, though.0
