When I see these things happening, I prepare for more gun kontrol legislation which is then only enforced on the non criminals which leads to more gun crime which leads to more legisla.......................

well, this being an election year it inflates my fears all the more as it will become an issue repleat with promises of more "kontrol"....

Seems to me like more people are taking responsibilty for their lives and not waiting for someone else to do it for them. There was a series of shootings that made the national news, but it just "feels" like more and more people are getting tired of the way their are being treated and taking action. 0 -
All the publicity about the Virginia Tech shooting brought us HR.2640.

The shooting of the criminal, by a private citizen carrying a concealed firearm, ENDING the shooting spree in the Colorado Springs church, does not seem to be getting the same publicity. Hmmmmm....

I have to agree that there is only a rise in reporting of it. I live near a major city and have a scanner, and only about 1% of all gun activity that ocurrs ever really gets reported. Just a paper seller for th media right now with the elections coming up. 0 -
I agree, just more coverage by the media. They are smelling blood and have high hopes of a Democrap in the Whitehouse and are just laying the ground work for instilling fear in all the weak willed sheeple out there. 0 -
i agree with you pickenup!! we got inundated with broadcasts and newspaper stories about the virginia tech killings( note = anti gun story).. and not a thing about the law abading citizen protecting society and saving god knows how many lives (note = pro gun story)it seems your media is heading down the same path as ours,in otherwords, not broadcasting or printing anything that could be seen as pro gun!! and it will only get worse there!!..and i would take a guess and say that the media that rupert murdock controls is the worst offender and not doing anything that could be seen as being pro gun!! 0 -

yeah, seems like 1-2 per week here in South Bend. Sometimes armed, sometimes not. not a very good crime rate, as there are only about a hundred thousand people here.0 -

Shopper pulls gun, stops robbery cold

A grocery store customer in Indianapolis is being credited with halting an armed robbery by pulling his own weapon and pointing it at the assailant until police arrived.
According to a report in the Indianapolis Star, Charlie Merrell, 51, was in a checkout line at a grocery store called Bucks IGA on the city's south side when a "masked man jumped a nearby counter and held a gun on a store employee."
The police report cited by the newspaper said the incident happened at 5:17 in the afternoon Monday as Merrell was doing some year-end shopping.
"While the suspect was demanding cash from the workers," according to the police report, "Merrell pulled his own handgun, pointed it at the robber and ordered him to put down his weapon."
The newspaper noted that Officer Jason Bockting, in his documentation of the incident, said when the suspect seemed to hesitate, "Merrell racked the slide on his gun to load a round in the chamber."
At that point, the report said, "the suspect placed his gun and a bag of cash on the counter, dropping some of the money . the suspect removed his mask and lay on the floor."
Merrill, meanwhile, held the suspect at gunpoint until officers arrived and took him away in handcuffs.
Police reported Merrell had a valid permit to carry the handgun, and they recovered an unloaded .380-caliber handgun and $779 cash from the suspect.
Police records show Dwain Smith, 19, was being held in the Marion County Jail on a bond of $30,000 on initial charges of robbery, criminal confinement, pointing a firearm, battery and carrying a handgun without a license.0 -
