In an accident yesterday.
Well my move to Ohio at the beginning of the year has been eventful. I was on my way to work yesterday morning about 6:45am and I got rear-ended at a red light. I was completely stopped and according to the 1 witness the other driver never even slowed down.
My truck that I bought new last May was totaled and at the time I had a tingling in my lower back, but it didn't feel like much at the time and I had a lot to do at work yesterday so I had the police officer drop me off at work after the vehicles were cleared away.
About 8:30am my back started getting a burning sensation in it and by 10:30 it was unbearable so I had a coworker drive me to the ER. After seeing a doctor and getting some x-rays I was told I have a lumbar stain and prescribed some pain killers and muscle relaxers.
This morning I woke up and could barely move. My lower back that was hurting yesterday was agonizing this AM and my neck was hurting and stiff. I called in to work and told them I wouldn't be in today, took my pills and went back to sleep. It's a little better this afternoon, but I doubt I'll be going to work tomorrow either.

Do yourself a favor and go see a back specialist, that way they can try to put you back in line again, not just give you a bunch of pills like a regular doctor. 0 -

Get your injuries documented, and like yesterday.....Make sure you boss knows and have the co-worker sign that you went to the ER...Leave nothing to chance...document EVERYTHING.. 0 -

I would go to a chiopractor.
The orthopedist just showed you what he has for you, a bottle of muscle relaxers. Those never work.
But, if your pain keeps up, the orthopedist can do some surgery. Half the time that just makes you worse.0 -

I was in a downhill sledding accident in 2001 was treated at the local ER AT ST. JOES HOSPITAL IN ELMIRA NY and released with a broken sternum and severe backpain,,,,I returned 7 days later to my family dcotor and was told it was a hard hit and will feel better if i got back to work {self employed auto tech},,,make a long story short,,,,3 MOS LATER,,they found my T-7 vertebrae crushed in a million pcs and I have been the hunchback of my town since then,,,,,I did find a doctor that re-broke and glued it last may and now i wished the accident had killed me.
DONT MESS AROUND,,,DEMAND AN MRI ,,,OR GO TO A KNOWN SPINE CENTER,,,I CANNOT GET ANYBODY TO TOUCH ME KNOW BEACUSE OF THE CHANCE OF PARALYSIS,,,AND TAKE MORPHINE 3 TIMES A DAY

I filed a claim with the other drivers' insurance company yesterday before going to the hospital. They called me back that afternoon and were very quick to say they'd pay my medical bills and set me up with a rental truck.
This morning I received a call from their medical claims adjuster wanting to come see me but I declined the invitation. I have a lawer & investigator coming to the house tomorrow morning and I want to talk to them before I talk with any injury adjusters from the insurance company.
I'm hoping to be able to go see a chiropractor early next week and get a more in-depth examination then the 2 minutes I got in the ER after 2 hours of waiting.0 -

My lawyer settled for 12k.

I am getting here late and sounds like CHAPP is on the right track by meeting with an attorney.
I hope it is nothing more than a soft tissue case and that you didn't suffer more serious injury.
Listen carefully to your lawyer's instructions.

Back pain hurts like hell and sometimes stays around a long time. Get well, and what color truck are you getting? Rumor has it you will also be obtaining lots of firearms.

What ever you do or however large a settlement they end up offering. DON'T sign a release that absolves them of further commitment! You'll hear that you must do this to get a settlement. Not true. A back injury can come back to haunt you years later. Hold out for medical treatment for as long as it's needed! And don't be afraid to go to court on this. Insurance companys are more afraid of court rulings than you need be as long as you arent asking for more than to be returned to the pain free life you enjoyed before the accident or compensation for your loss. A good atty would lead them to think you may settle and sign off, then after the amount gets as large as it's going to get, hit em with this.

My sister was in a head-on that was not her fault, got bruised up a bit and her car was totalled. She tried to work with the insurance company but when they offered to settle the whole thing for $1500 she got a lawyer. Basically they forced her to get a lawyer. The lawyer laughed at the offer and told her not to worry about anything anymore. He was right, about 2 weeks later she ended up getting about $12k in total damages. 0 -
Insurance companies spend millions on propaganda about "frivolous" lawsuits, yet they force you to lawsuit on even the most clearcut case in an attempt to wear out the little guy financially. Especially on cases with soft tissue damage such as is likely the case with your back. Do the math.
I see this DAILY from insurance companies:
--Ridiculously low offers to settle the claim
--Denial of liability of their insured even when liability is clear
--Requests for ridiculous documentation designed to thwart or extend
--Abrasiveness or flat out ignoring a claimant FORCING him to hire counsel
I bet for every person that goes through the effort of hiring a lawyer and all that crap, there are 10 who give up.
Big insurance is not your friend.0
