Identification of Navy pins

I need some assistance in determining if these Navy pins are legitimate. Can someone with Navy experience look at this video and tell me if this looks right to you?

I used to work with this person and for some reason it just does not make sense to me that he would be a decorated Navy man. Maybe I am wrong.

    beach, tell me about how ribbons were issued for distinguished shooters a while back. what did you hear about it? btw...as we know, it is posible to rate coasty ribbons for shooting. i was issued an army ach-medal (AAM,) when i was stationed with the army, so i know cross deck serivice allows for ribbons of that branch to be worn.

    beach, multiple DD-214s and DD-215s is no big trick. I've got seven DD-214s and two DD-215s.

    You get a DD-214 every time you are discharged and one when you retire or transfer to the Fleet Reserve. You get discharged every time you ship-over. You get a DD-215 every time BuPers finds out they screwed up you DD-214.

    maybe its me but im old school. i was taught 'innocent until proven guilty.' i'll stick by that.
    and besides, this wasnt suppose to be a witch hunt, it was suppose to be a question on if the ribbons were in order and legit. i would never question a mans integrity or motives in the process. im not BUPERS.[;)]

    bobski...Have you ever seen a sailor prancing around with Marine Corps or Army marksmanship medals? Of course not...marksmanship medals are only a qualification badge, not an award for superior service like your Army Achievemant Medal. If this character served in the Coast Guard and qualified for the Coast Guard badges he should properly have removed them from his uniform when he became something other than a "puddle pirate". He's a poser...I don't doubt that he's a master chief...but he wants everyone to think that he's some kind of stud muffin with all those ribbons(what E-5 personnelman is going to be able to stand up to an arrogant E-9?). The Distinguished Shooter ribbons may be worn with SDB's even if you wear your gold badges(Notice he's not wearing his gold Distinguished badges....you can't buy them at the exchange so I guess he wasn't able to hang them on his uniform). So you are entitled to wear your Distinguished ribbons along with your Expert Rifle and Pistol ribbons anytime. This bozo thinks that being a range master qualifies him for the Distinguished Rifleman and Pistol Shot ribbons. I honestly wonder whether or not he even knows who Billy Jack and Pat are. Don't tell him. Jim Adell is a good friend of mine who captained the reserve team for years...I wonder if Jim has even heard of him either. I'm halfway tempted to call Pat and Jim and ask them if they've ever heard of him. I do wonder what year he went out....if he did. The Navy Shooting Teams standards have been sacrosanct for years. Not too much controversy about who the shooters are or were.

    one call to usnst would solve that issue i guess. east or west should have records. and again, im sure being the mcpo he is, if he was wrong, he'd correct it. i like to think positive, of course. i have been told the eic medals he rates are under glass, so that would explain them missing.

    so, ribbons were in for DIS shooters, but im told they discontinued them. is this true? when did it go out? i wonder if i rate one? just for shadow box purposes or course. and if it must be added to the 214. might be too much a hassle for a retired guy.

    granted, shooting awards for usmc arent worn on navy uniforms. nor are army badges. but i believe uscg is an exception because they are almost identical and are worn in the same order as each other. i may be wrong and mcpo may be too. again, a few calls would resolve the question. for some reason, i vagely remember a rule sighting if you are a prior service shooting qualed, all equal awards are crossed over. so, if you were expert in usmc, then you get to put on navy experts and doff the usmc ones when you cross deck to navy. but im long retired and dont have a bupersman in my nose. case in point, im ARMY AIRBORNE, FREEFALL, HALO JM qualed. i was issued all the ARMY awards as navy liason for these, but i didnt wear them on my navy uniform. its documented in my dd214, but i didnt wear it as part of my navy uniform. i do remember a lot of army crossdecks from nam in the navy. how did we know? they had their army ribbons.
    mcpo appears to have been serviing in joint forces billets, which would indeed explain the vast array of ribbons. geesh, all you got to do is come to work in other services and you get ribbons! i served joint forces and got army ribbons, so im leadto believe if he was with uscg, army or af, hed rate them if received while under command by them. but navy...theyre a little tuffer, they dont cough em up as easy, the way i remember.
    and too CO, my goal here is to make it right and to help a shipmate avoid WORLD embarassment.[;)] im just focusing on those eic shooting ribbons. heck, i didnt even know they existed until this thread.

    i'd like to see a DIS ribbon. got a pic of one?

    For general information, this is the order of precedence for Navy Awards. There are other awards from other services, civic organizations, states and foreign governments which are authorized to be worn on Navy uniforms. If in doubt, check with BuPers.
