Why won't you moderate instead of dictate? If a thread having to do with politics turns bad, move it. Otherwise what's wrong with having a political discussion in a "general" way? It is an election year. Many people visit "general". Few visit politics. Once again, it is an election year, possibly the most important one in our history. 0 -

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe you take so much flack simply because you try to explain your position?
Mod = (almost) god. And just poofs.
but when mod starts explaining why-fors and what-nots, mod becomes imminently human.

Others have also said I should just poof and move on. I always want people to know what happened and why but some members simply dislike me and no matter what I say it angers them.
Of course, I get credit for every deletion but I actually do very little editing and deleting.0 -

We should form a support group. I have the same tendency but the fact is......they just don't care to know. And if you don't have to, it's much easier just not to explain it (let them email and ask if they care).

Once upon a time, there was a wise old king.
Or so he thought. When he would hold court, he would wear an iron mask so nobody could see the expression on his face. Nobody was allowed to see him otherwise. Nobody even knew what his face actually looked like. All they saw was the stern iron mask. they were all in fear of him.
The king became unhappy. Behind his mask, sometimes he would laugh; sometimes he would cry; sometimes he would smile. But still those before him only saw the expressionless face of iron and were fearful. The king wished he could only take off his mask and let them see his face, but he was afraid they might not respect him and he would lose his command over his subjects.
He went to his wife. He told her how unhappy he was. "What shall I do?" he lamented. "Take the stupid thing off," she said. So he did. The next day when he held court, the people who were there saw his face for the first time. "Is it really you? is this our king?" they said. "Yes it is," the king beamed. They had a good time. The king was able to laugh, and frown, and his subjects felt much more comfortable with him, and he with them.
But the next day, sometimes he would talk, and they would continue talking amongst themselves. sometimes they would argue with each other in front of the king. sometimes it appeared they weren't taking the king seriously.
the next day, the king discovered that some of his orders hadn't been obeyed. He frowned. This was no good. What he was afraid of happening, was happening already, and this was only the third day without his mask.
So he ordered all the people who had seen him without his mask on, to be put to death. And he put his mask back on.
From that day on, the people who came to his court saw him as before, with the mask of iron. and like before, he would laugh, he would cry, he would smile, all behind the mask that he only wished he could take off. But still those before him only saw the expressionless face of iron and were fearful... and obeyed his orders. And all was as it should be in the kingdom.0 -

It's been my observation that a mod trying to explain their decisions in detail is an exercise in futility.
