Acraglass

What is it? Got an E-mail from a guy that said his upper had acraglass on it, and if it was too tight on my upper icould file it down and make it fit my lower perfectly. Is it somekind of filler betweek the upper and lower?

    It is used to take up gaps when fitting a stock to a barrel/action assy. Most commonly in restocking and sporterizing. They don't usually fit without some elbow grease.[;)]

    Why would he glass an upper? I have never heard of anyone using it on anything except a bolt action rifle.

    Here the contents on the e-mail he wrote me. It seems like a good upper, dont know if i want to drop 550 for it though.




    " have a 20" upper for sale. It has a Bushmaster flat top upper, with Accuracy Speaks free float tube, Olympic Super Ultra Match 20" barrel. The tube has a Uncle Mikes stud for sling or Harris bipod. A muzzle brake is installed. The pivot pin and take down pin hole size is .25". There is Acraglas around these to make a tight fit between the upper and lower. If it's too tight for your lower, you can file it down a little at a time until you get a tight fit with no play. The bolt is chromed and fired cases measure SAAMI minimum headspace + .000". The barrel twist rate is 1:10 so you can shoot bullets up to a 69 gr. Sierra Matchking. My last four 3-shot groups at 100 yds off a bench with a 6x Leupold (Black Hills 40 gr Ballistic Tip) were .39", .47", .44" and 1.07". Since then I put together a 16" upper so this is sitting in the safe waiting for a good home. It's $550 plus shipping if you're interested. I can take a picture if desired. Regards,XXXX"

    Maybe he is a fix it all with acraglass and jbweld type gunsmith?

    Anyway if it is bubbaed up with acraglass suburbannoise, I personally would find another upper to buy.
    Way to many available to monkey around with bubbaed up parts.

    There are far supperior ways to tighten an AR upper/lower fit that is more of a positive secure method than acraglass.
