If you are on the fence about a CHL/CCW license (and your state offers one) I recommend you get it. Waiting until you have an "event" to help you make the decision may be too late. Also, the more handgun licensees there are in a state the more difficult it is for the politicos to ignore you AND the 2nd amendment. In politics there is usually strength in numbers. FYI. [;)]

Here in Indiana for $125 you get a Lifetime permit just sent mine in recently 0 -

Excellent advice. One small way I am helping is that when I got my CCW I made sure that my daughter got hers. Now, as she goes out and about in society, I always hope she will mention and show here CCW license to her friends. Reason being that most young guys, when they see an attractive young woman who has a CCW, for some reason it seems to make them also want one. I guess they figure if a young woman has one they definately should have one.
And as you said, the more people that have a CCW, the more strength we will have in regards to hanging onto those CCW licenses. And at some point, when we have enough strength, we can start pushing the idea that the 2A is all we need to have a concealed carry riight. And that the 2A has been there all along for us.0 -
Just got the packet 3 days ago for Virginia. Me and my bud are going together to get one. He is a VA resident so he'll be able to carry all the time, me just when I'm in VA. I'm not sure if I can carry at work - I'll have to look at the manual, I guess if it doesn't say no, I am ok. I have to follow MD rules getting there, so in the trunk until I "cross the border". 0 -
I took the wife into center city Philadelphia for a Christmas show.
There never was a better reason to slip a reliable semi-auto in my back pocket.

Get it with the full knowledge that it is illegal, intrusive, and an exercise of the Beasts authority in an area denied it under the Constitution.
Get it because the more people have them, the harder it will be for the Beast to come collect them some fine day..and your life may well depend on the 'fine little semi-auto' in your pocket..to fight your way back to your rifle.0 -
While I fundamentally disagree with the concept of having to request permission from a government body to "legally" do what the US Constitution gives me the right to do, I agree with your logic. A lot of times that "event" that you speak of will leave you unable to excercise any of your rights, cuz you will be dead. 0 -

Absolutely spot on.
The other end is...be prepared to pay the penalty for disobeying the Beast. I also approve of Civil Disobedience.
What I TOTALLY despise are those so very excited to get on their knees in front of the Beast as He grants them the "Right to Carry"...as that type often calls it.
They are entirely to stupid to realize that actually, they have traded OFF the REAL Right to Carry...the Second Amendment..for the Privilege to carry..granted by some pimply faced minion of the Beast.0 -
I applyed for mine two and a half years ago. past the test Juast got around to making application, in Ohio if the police happen to run your licence no. through there data base (ncic) or what ever the initals are, there pops up a red box telling the officer that the car's owner has a ccw, I just figured that they would pull you over if they didn't have anything better to do. I know that they do it because I know a couple of cops and they tell me they do. So my whole life I've been low profile and now all of the sudden I'm not. 0 -

got mine a yr ago, its good for 4yrs and sometime this yr I'm moving[:(][:(] to GA, so it means another 120$ or so, the money i have to spend to be safe, its well worth it 0 -

i truly envy you people who can carry weapons for self defence, whether it`s open carry or concealed!!..going off on a different angle for a bit..i have actually read your constitution from start to finish and from what i read i have to agree with you ..you have the legal right to "bear arms"..it doesnt say except if they are concealed or except if they are full auto or weapons designed primarilly for military purposes!! it says you have the right to bear arms!!..and i am sure that if modern weapons like are available now were around when your constitution was written that the people would have been armed with them!! it is a fact of life that back then the people owned the most modern weapons available!...and regardless of what some people have said in these forums , i dont see anything wrong with people owning full auto weapons!!...if someone murders with them or does an armed robbery or uses them to intimidate innocent people, jail them , maybe even for the term of their natural life!! what is wrong with that? if people dont break the law, they have nothing to fear!..please believe me, you americans are the envy of the world because you have the RIGHT to be armed for your own defence and the defence of your families and your possesions..and of coarse the defence of your fellow citizens!..unfortunatlly where i live we have lost that right...before 1996 it was always assumed, even by the courts that we did have that right..the only weapons restrictions we had were on handguns, as i`ve said before, they have been strictly regulated since 1923, but everything else with a barrel over 16 inches was legal..i personally had full auto weapons, but didnt use them very often, it got a bit expensive to feed them [:)]...when i read on these forums that your own countrymen are trying to take away your rights, it makes me sad....i truly hope and pray that you NEVER loose your RIGHTS....your country saved mine in ww2 in the battle of the coral sea...if any of you ever happen to get to australia and go to a place called townsville in northern queensland and go to the strand, you will see a memorial to the U.S. forces....by a huge majority australians think very highly of you americans...we have not forgotten that we owe you a debt!...and may god bless america 0 -
This topic ticks me off every time it comes up. What is wrong with you people who fall for the CCW scam? Let somebody come on this forum and express anything but a conservative viewpoint on almost anything and folks are quick to skewer them, but, many of you seem to be almost proud that you have paid the government to let them know that you are armed. Can't you see how foolish this is? Does the word hypocrite mean anything to you? Doesn't it bother you that the government knows that you have registered? How are you safer? CCWs are unconstitutional, plain and simple. 0 -

I agree , but I have a CCW to stay out of trouble with the Gestopo LEOs that think no one has the right to carry.0 -
Not trying to pick a fight, prangle, but, if a LEO wants to mess with you about anything at all, they will, no matter what sort of permits or documents you might have in your possession. I'm not saying that all cops are bad; just that, these days, they can do whatever they want to you and likely get away with it. I'm just trying to point out the inherent unconstitutionality of permits and the hypocrisy connected to the entire concept. I'm guessing that the majority of folks who get CCWs are doing it just for bragging rights. A permit will not make you more secure. In fact, in some places, who has a permit is part of the public record. Does anyone really need to know? 0 -
