He was a great leader IMHO, from the generation that I am from.
I know some have complaints about him, but he was a great speaker, and was able to choose the right "cronies" to make a sucessful President.
Anyone with half a brain realizes that it is not all about the man, but whom he chooses to guide him.
Reagan did all of the above very well. At least the best in my lifetime.

A magnetic personality. Even if you did not agree with the direction he was leading our country, at least you knew he was leading us somewhere and that place was somewhere that he thought would make life better for all of us! There are no leaders any more, just a bunch of guys (and one gal) fighting for votes in order to get elected and then following polling data so as to figure their next move. You'll never see anyone like Reagan elected again. 0 -

When I was in the Navy, "The Gipper" was president.
So you know I loved the guy.
Once, at a dinner party, a screamin' Liberal told me what a horrible president Ronnie was. Trying to be diplomatic, I said that, as a serviceman, I thought he was one of the best. The snarky-assed reply was, "Yeah, then you got out. And you found out how hard it was to find a job..."
"Nope.", I said, "But then again, since I've never been afraid of work, I've always had a job"

I loved Ronald Reagan. I was 10 when he was elected, 18 when he was done, so I never had the honor of getting to vote for him. (Never had the honor of voting "for" anyone) As a 10 year old, I was quite certain I would not see 18. We would all be vaporized. But I knew our president was fighting the bad guys, and winning, and I loved him for it. Even as a child, I knew he actually cared about us, the people. Later it would become apparent that that trait was rare in publice servants at that level. I sure miss him. What a leader, what a leader.
PS, there are a few videos of him on youtube. I like to go and watch them every now and then. It has a calming effect, just hearing his voice. Times were sure better then. Hasn't been the same since, never will be sadly. The only knock I have on him is not getting rid of NWO Bush.0 -
I have never been so proud of a president in my lifetime as I was of Ronald Reagan.
I cried when that chopper took him from the White House after Bush the 1st's inauguration.
