    When I was making underwater lights I found that at 35 watts the polycarbonate plastic lens I was using would boil on the inside, and be fine on the sea water side. So I went to glass.

    A friend of mine solved the problem by just letting the bulb be exposed to the sea water. Of course after a few minutes the exposed bulb would start to boil the sea water, and you could not point the light down wards for more than a few seconds (the reflector would collect the boiled air and the bulb would explode).

    The problem we encountered was batteries that would support the high wattage bulbs. Modern batteries are a lot better than in the 1970s.

    I like my Sure-Fire just fine! When working as a flight and street medic, it never let me down!
