ohhhh yeah..where to start ? useless ? you bet!! since 1996 every firearm, including kids airrifles has had to be registered here, even non firing replicas have to be registered just like they are a fully functioning firearm,
how many crimes have been solved since 1996 because guns are registered ? .....not one !!, big surprise, im sure none of you are surprised though!
ive pointed out to the politicians here how useless registration is, but there is no way they will get rid of it now they have control over law abiding gun owners!.
new zealand had registration for rifles and shotguns for 70 years, and in all that time 3 crimes were solved because a gun was registered!! 3 lousy crimes!! they dont have registration for rifles and shotguns now..they saw the light and dropped it...
as i love to say the only reason for gun registration is to control law abiding citizens, no other reason!...hand guns have been stricktly controles since the 1920`s yet we have a lot of crimes commited every year with illegal hand guns...i can get a pistol easier illegally than i can legally !! it is a joke!!even though i have rifles and shot guns i have to wait 6 months before i can legally buy a hand gun, and even then i can only have 2..after 12 months being a member of a club i can apply to get more...i can tell you all now, if i want to shoot someone, im not going to use a pistol, i would want to make damned sure im going to kill them, i think my 6.5x55 would do that better than a .22 pistol any day!
some of you would have read my rants before about the laws here...i could keep writing all day about it, but it would still come down to the fact that gun control does not stop gun crime! and there is more than enough evidence to prove it increases it...it is just a control measure for the politicians to tottally disarm their citizens any time they want to do it.0 -

yep, it's just like our "safety inspection" in michigan on all handguns. it's a euphemism for registration. if it were truly a safety inspection, the police department should only have to "inspect" used weapons. what purpose does it serve to inspect a gun that is new in box. not to mention the fact that our police officers are not trained professional gunsmiths.0 -

Don't be too complacent. The anti-gun loby in the U.S. is very strong and very very well financed. The tide could change with the wrong government. You need to stay strong, united, support your pro-gun associations & clubs and know your politicians & where they stand and never miss an opportunity to vote.
You'd be surprised how many U.S. corporations and businesses contribute annually $$ millions to the anti-gun groups. I did have a list a couple of years ago but no longer. It would likely still be available by doing some internet searches or from the NRA.0 -

By asserting that they are the largest, most effective lobbying organization in the U.S.; you may give some gun-hating mullet enough ammo to start bashing!
My folks in New Zealand have a fairly large sheep station somewhere, I have seen the shotguns, rifles and other articles of outback ranching in the pics they've sent. It'd be a real sad day when the NZ government decides to start taking them away from their owners, but just from my relatives; they'd have to field a battalion to stand a chance!
Michigans' "Inspection" can take a month or more, depending on who you are, and how well some of those redneck jerks in the State Patrol know you. For sure, down by White Pigeon/Constantine; they get to keep some of my relatives' guns much longer than "absolutely necessary".
Some of my family used to live in Centralia, Illinois, and around Carbondale; they moved just to be able to have semi-unfettered access to their guns without a FOID card.
One time in the late 70s; I visited them in Mt. Vernon for the summer. I couldn't shoot the guns I'd brought because I didn't have a FOID card, and couldn't buy ammo without one!
Too many rules are destined to make criminals out of us all!0 -

actually, if you're referring to the same michigan safety inspection i spoke about earlier, your information is incorrect. when you walk into you local police department for the inspection, you walk out a few minutes later with your gun. so it's not necessarily a time consuming ordeal, but it is the fact that it is the equivalent of a registration that is so frustrating.0 -
